Well yeah, because they are, they're backed by ruthless mega-corporations that only care about their bottom line, so that's not surprising.Β Those who actually want change in the Republic are going to be ignored or placated just to have support.

They may appearΒ to be that way and many worlds had justifiable reasons for leaving the otherwise complacent Republic, but in the end, the ones who founded it and controlled it were villainous.Β That treaty meeting in Attack of the Clones didn't have very many nice people in there as far as I know.

The only inity created was afacade, the Republic has always neglected the outer rim, and it has never created any real sense of safety, not even on Coruscant.

That's an awfully cynical take, citizens living under that system you're describing would rise up eventually, they always do.

It is not cynical, I just believe that the galaxy needs a better, less social Darwinist form of government, that is not based on an eat or be eaten system.
Besides, there were a lot of small wars and uprisings during those ten thousand years.
The clone wars (the event not the cartoons) just saw them happening all at once.
