Built with the war on Solomon in mind, the Solus is a brawling ACE specializing in very-close-range combat. Its most distinctive feature is the glowing, cyclopean visor centered in its head. Though intimidating, the “eye” actually holds some of the most sophisticated short-range tracking equipment on the market, and the smartglass lens can track enemies up close with great acuity. Troops on the ground have been known to remark (usually fearfully) on the way the lens shifts to focus on individual vehicles and soldiers, and the Solus has a dread reputation among Rigellian separatists.
Though a significant number are retained for the corporation’s own use, the Solus is also commonly seen on the export market. It retains the high cost and maintenance requirements of most Axis designs, though mitigated somewhat by its smaller size. Nonetheless, it has a robust following among mercenaries, especially those engaged in urban combat.
