Description
It was hours after the small game of dice with Stella and Toreo plus the little self-defense lesson Mary was eager to give them. Mary seemed okay as usual as she smiled along with Stella but Danial could see under the mask. Yet, he couldn't say anything even if he really wanted to. “That was really good Stella...um...a good try Toreo but you REALLY need to keep your guard up more.”
“Y-yes, it would seem so...” Toreo chuckled a little from where he was on the ground. His muscles were screaming at him with the work Mary put him though. While Stella also felt sore she was still ready for more.
“What next Mary? I didn't know how thrilling this was, I just don't want to stop!”
“Just give me a sec girl, I got to catch my breath a little and maybe find a drink.” Mary laughed and waved a gloved hand at Stella before she started to walk away deeper into the woods. “I'll be back in a bit, just keep going over those drills I told you.” She waved her tail at Stella as she walked off.
“Wait, I'll come with you.” Stella started after Mary but then found her right wrist caught by Danial. She looked back seeing a stern yet sad look to his face, saying nothing as he shook his head. This alone had Stella worried yet again.
Mary kept on walking with a good stride for a while, but once she felt she was far enough away from the others her stride began to slow with each step. Finally, she fell down to her knees and collapsed on all fours, tears running down her cheeks as she started to beat her fists on the ground. “Why!? Why me, why always me! What did I do to deserve this hell!?” She yelled out as she choked back more tears, yanking her gloves off in a hurry as she threw them at a tree in frustration. The more she cried and yelled the more sparks shot from her horns and storm clouds building above the forest as it formed a tempest overhead.
Slowly Mary's dark hair kept fluctuating between its normal black and gold as she struggled to keep herself under control as she knew if she didn't she would be a danger to everyone around her. She was doing well enough...until.
“Hey there, miss grumpy lizard. I hope you had fun with the little game and you'll start to like the forest more. I know once we get to know each other more then we'll be the best of friends!” Leao called down to Mary from up in a tree. Her voice was more than enough to set Mary off but once she looked up and laid eyes on the young goddess...something inside her snapped and she swore she for just a second she heard a new voice whispering to her.
“Destroy EVERYTHING.” That voice seemingly talking to Mary in her mind finally pushed the girl past the breaking point. As the storm overhead was at full power, raging like it was alive and just as tormented as Mary, she let out a shriek so loud that not only could every living being in the forest could hear it to the point it hurt, but also the glass of all the broken cars and bottles around her shattered just as a bolt of lighting came straight down enveloping her in a bright light.
Leao gasped as she nearly was knocked right out of the tree but she was able to hold on to a sturdy branch. Once she regained her balance she rubbed her eyes just for the first thing to see was a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes coming at her with long yellow glowing claws. She gasped and jumped back from the tree just in time for those claws to slice through the branch she had been standing on.
“Whats wrong? You seem a bit jumpy for a goddess, or are you just some faker that I should have gutted from the start?” The figure asked with a bit of a laugh in their voice and it was very familiar. Too familiar in fact. Leao took a few steps back as she watched the figure, her eyes going over what she could see. A pair of large glowing wings and curved horns along with those claws, but it was those eyes, those sadistic glowing red eyes that sent chills down her spine for some reason. Once the figure came into the dim blue light that Leao's eyes grew wide.
Standing there was Mary, electricity flowing around her body as some of it took shape. A large pair of wings on her back and curved horns over her existing ones. It was just electrical outlines but they seemed to function like the real deal along with those long blade like claws on her fingers...but the worst thing....her eyes. They were nothing but a jet black as if it was an empty void and the once clear amber color to her eyes was now a crimson red, like spots of blood stained on a black wall.
“What the heck happened to you? You um, need to calm down. You don't want to startle the cons, not right now with whats going on.” Leao smiled as she kept as calm as she could and got a smile in return from the dino girl...but it turned into a grin.
Before she knew it Mary was already a foot away from her with one hand pulled back ready to swipe at her with those claws. “Your scared animals are the least of your worries.” Mary's grin grew wide as she lashed her claws out at Leao just for the young goddess to dive out of the way. Her claws sliced through a tree behind her like it was nothing and it slowly crashed to the ground. “My, you do seem quite skittish for a goddess, if you really are one that is.” Mary laughed as Leao quickly got back up to her feet in a bit of a panic. “Never felt pure fear before huh? Good...I want to savor it while I'm ripping you limb from limb. I want to see just how godly you are...Are you immortal? If so, I'll make you wish you weren't.” Mary let out a shrieking scream as she pounced for Leao but something got in her way.
The young goddess was catatonic for a moment with what was going on but once her mind caught up with her she saw Danial standing between her and Mary, holding his guns upside down with blue glowing beams coming out from the barrels and using them to stop Mary's claws. “Wh-whats going on? Your sister went so crazy for no reason. We're supposed to be friends after all.” She tried to play things off as normal and keep from showing even a tiny hit of fear.
“Get out of here...” Danial growled out as he struggled to hold his sister back.
“But we're best friends. We can talk this out and-”
“We're not your friends and never will be you little brat!” Danial roared out at her as sparks flew from his horns and his eyes started to glow from under his goggles. “You think forcing people into your messed up little world, forced us to fight others just to try and go back home and you expect us to be friends?!”
“Well yeah. I mean you are stopping her from attacking me so-”
“Just shut the hell up!” Danial let out a roar as he pushed Mary back as blue electricity burst from his body and his long hair turned a bluish teal. “I'm stopping her because I know she would hate herself later on if she killed someone, even if she hated them. Now leave!”
“Oh come on...it isn't that bad I'm sure.” Leao kept playing it off like it was nothing till Danial snarled at her.
“Leave now or I'll shoot you myself!” From the look of his face and the tone of his voice, Danial was VERY serious. Not arguing with him anymore Leao took off running wanting to check up on the others and not risk seeing if she was able to be killed by Mary or not.
“Oh no you don't!” Mary growled out as a glow came from down deep in her throat. Danial had a very good idea what was coming so he did what he could do. Rearing back he bashed his head right into Mary's snout hard enough to knock her head back. With a snarl, a bolt of lighting came streaming from her mouth cutting through the treetops as she stumbled back. “Darn...she got away for now, no thanks to you, brother,” Mary growled as tilted her head from side to side popping her neck. “And since when could you go burst mode?”
“I did it because I know you would regret it once you come back to your senses, and longer than you think. Now you need to calm down and stop this madness before you do something you really will regret.” Danial kept his serious tone but only got a laugh from Mary.
“That I'll regret? The only thing I regret is every time this trash happened to me...that I didn't just wipe everyone out from the very start.” Those words came from her with a straight face. She would never say such things and mean it but this time she did. “My life would have been so much better if I crushed every problem that got in my way. That includes you if you butt in again while I hunt down that bitch.” She took one step forward only for Danial to get in the way again.
“Well, you aren't getting your way, even if I have to beat you down Mary.” Just as he got ready with his guns up Mary just seemed to appear inches from him, her new claw clashing into the beams on his guns. Just as he was able to push her off Mary began to lash out at him with those claws faster than she could usually move. He was able to block some of the strikes but others cut into him leaving scratches all over his body. He fought with her what felt like hours but it was only a few moments, already hurt and worn down by his little sister.
“Why don't you take a nap while I take care of things.” Mary smiled and walked past Danial, swaying her tail happily while she sang a creepy tune as she started to track down Leao. “Oh Leao, where are yooouuuu?”
“Don't move Mary...” Danial spoke up as he stood behind her, both guns flipped upright and pressed together pointed right at her.
“Aww, is big brother really going to shoot his little sister?” Mary looked over and wiggled her tail as she felt he was bluffing.
“You still don't know me that well, sister.” Ejecting the clips from his guns he started to focus a large amount of electricity into both guns before he pulled the triggers. There was a sound like a cannon going off as a large blast of blue electricity rushed from both guns right at her.
“Rail gun!” The blast rushed right at Mary at mind blowing speed. Danial felt he had her that time and with how she was on a rampage he knew it would be enough to put her down till she was her old self again...but that idea was quickly shattered.
With one quick flick of a claw, Mary had split the shot in half as it came at her, letting the split blast rush past her and explode deep within the forest. “Oh, going all out on your little sister and with a new trick with those guns I made you? Such a naughty brother you are.” Mary giggled seeing the shocked look on Danial's face. He had always been stronger than Mary yet here she was out classing him in every way. “Now then dear brother... STAY OUT OF MY WAY!” Mary screamed out as she rushed at Danial with her claws, lashing out at him ready to cut Danial down once and for all.
Just as Mary was a foot away from him, Danial let out a roar as a pair of lights came from him seemingly stopping Mary dead in her tracks as if something was holding her. “What the hell?!” Mary growled and struggled as she was held in mid air by her wrists. “What's going on?!” Her thrashing was like that of a wild animal caught in a trap until she heard a pair of voices from the lights.
“Don't know what's got you this worked up Pumpkin, but you got to calm down.”
“Si, listen to your father.”
The voices somehow seemed familiar for some reason yet she didn't know who they were or where they were coming from.
Slowly a pair of tall adult Sauriens, both a shade of red much like Mary and Danial. The two strangers held Mary up by her wrists.
A man in a dark suit and fedora hat covering his dark ash brown hair holding Mary's right arm in his left hand while the other held onto a violin case while a woman with pinned up dark hair wearing a form fitting black and purple dress held onto her left arm. Both of them looked at Mary with concern written all over her face.
“You shouldn't have jumped in.” Danial grumbled a little as he started to catch his breath.
“Ha! Sorry about that kiddo but not like we could sit behind and watch.”
“Si, I couldn't stand it any longer to watch my little niños hurt each other.” Once the woman said that word it hit Mary like a ton of bricks. Slowly she began to calm down and look like her old self again as she looked between the two.
“Mom?....Dad?”
“Si niño.”
“You grew up so fast, pumpkin.”
Mary was still in a state of shock as her feet touched the ground and all the electricity around her body vanished. She stood there for a moment, trembling with tears running down her face before she ran to the parents she had never met. “Mommie! Daddy!” Mary cried her eyes out as she wrapped her arms around the two of them, falling to her knees crying as her mother knelt down with her and her father kept his free hand atop her head.
Danial slowly walked over and let out a sigh as things calmed down. “Glad that's over with. You okay Mary?” Putting his handguns away he adjusted his goggles and brushed the dirt off his shirt after the romp he had with his sister in her odd breakdown.
Mary gasped as she looked up seeing the state Danial was in then looked down at her hands. Her heart started to race as everything in her head clearing up. “D-Danial I....I'm so sorry I...”
“It's okay Mary, you weren't yourself and I'm sure it's because of all the messed up places you've been in.” Danial just shrugged with a smile. “I deserved it keeping them from you for so long.”
“Wh-what?” Mary looked between him and their parents.
“It's not like he wanted to pumpkin. We wanted your ancestor Champagne to be with you as she was so much stronger than either of us and we wanted to make sure you were safe.”
“Si. We were somehow able to be with Danial but too weak to take form or speak outside of his dreams until a year ago.”
“Truth be told, Mary... I wanted to surprise you on your birthday this year given the things that have happened to you, but that can't be helped anymore.” Danial sighed again as he watched Mary stand up right in front of him, having a good feeling she was going to bust him across the face. Rather than a hard fist to the face, he found Mary clinging to him, still crying. Danial sighed and wrapped his arms around his little sister as their parents hugged the both of them...finally...after years of hell and heartbreak...she had a family.
The bitter sweet joy was fleeting as Mary's father let go of them and stood up, sniffling as she looked up at him as he took a cigarette and lighter from his jacket pocket and lit it with a cold look too his eyes, the same look Danial would get when he was in a bad mood.
“D-daddy?”
“Rita sweetie, I'll deal with this.” He huffed a bit and took a drag of his cigarette. She nodded and held Mary close as they heard a rumbling sound getting closer. The grip on his violin case handle tightened as Danial stood next to his father. “Going to try and show your old man up huh?”
“Not hardly dad. You just didn't raise a slacker when a job needs to be done done.” Danial pulled his goggles down while his father just laughed. Before anything else could be said a herd of large shadowy creatures came rushing from the brush.
Mary was actually scared at that point. She had a feeling her father would be okay, being a ghost and all, but her brother was still flesh and blood. Before she knew it she was in awe as she watched them. Danial's hair turned that teal color with a gentle glow to it and he drew his two guns. Her father flicked his wrist holding the case, it opened and with grace, he caught the Tommy gun that flew out of it, his right eye glowing yellow as he and Danial began to let down a spray of fire on the creatures.
Each shot hit its mark sending creatures crashing to the ground, but for each one that fell three more came charging out from the darkness. Finally, Mary's mother could not sit back any longer. Smoothing her skirt out Mary saw a flash and there in her mother's hands was a minigun, the barrel already spinning as she stepped between the two men. Pulling the trigger she let loose a hail storm of glowing shots across the beasts knocking them down and ripping up trees as well.
Finally, all three stopped firing; leaving a large pile of paralyzed creatures, broken branches, and bullet shells littered on the ground. “Well, I think that takes care of the welcome wagon.” The ghostly man said as he sighed with a smile exhaling a puff of smoke.
“Si, but you know I could have finished things faster Thompson,” Rita said with a bit of huff in her voice Thompson just chuckled a little seeing his wife getting flustred.
“Yeah I know that doll, but then there would be no fun for me and the boy to have. Speaking of, you've become quite the crack shot there Danial.”
Danial sighed as he calmed down and his hair changed back to normal, spinning his guns around on his fingers before slipping them both in their holsters. “Thanks dad.” Danial smiled as he pushed his goggles up just to get his already messy hair ruffled by his father.
Mary watched in awe with just how tough her family was, yet she was still a cry baby that always needed someone to bail her out of trouble. Nonetheless, she finally had the family she had wanted for so long, the family that had been taken from her at such a young age. Just as she was walking to them she hears the familiar voice that sparked that fit of rage before.
“Wow, that was amazing!” Leao sat up in a tree far behind Mary, overlooking the chaos that had gone on. “You should be really careful, your outburst before caused all the cons in the forest to run around freaked out.”
“Who's the blue haired brat?” Thompson asked as he pointed up at Leao.
“Hey, I'm not a brat! I'm Lea-”
“Yeah, I know who you are kiddo.” Thompson cut her off then took a long drag from his cigarette. “You’re the so called goddess of this dump that snatched up our kids.”
“Your kids?”
“Yeah, names Thompson Glock, and this is my wife Rita. And your the pesky brat Leao.”
“You say it like I'm a bad guy or something. I'm just making friends, and now I got two extra!” Leao was happy she was adding more people into the woods that she didn't even intend too. Her friend list was growing before her eyes. Her joy was cut off when Rita began to yell at her in a language she didn't understand at all.
“Um..what?”
“Trust me kid, you don't want to know half of what she said...but nonetheless I'll agree with her on one thing.” Thompson smiled as he looked up at Leao, a sly grin crept across his face with his right eye glowing. “You made a big mistake dragging us here.”
“Mistake? How can making such cool friends be a mistake?” Leao's naive and care free attitude pushed Mary a little too far once again. The storm overhead started to pick up once more and far bigger than before. Before Leao could say anything there was a crack of thunder and a flash of lighting. Within that flash of light, Mary went from where she was standing on the ground to right in front of Leao on the branch, her hair and eyes had changed to that gold color as she looked right at the goddess. “What in the world?!” She stepped back only to be pinned against the trunk of the tree with Mary wrapping one hand around her neck.
“Let me make it as painfully clear as I can you pain in the ass. I will NEVER be your friend no matter what, no one you brought here will be because they DON'T WANT TO BE HERE.”
“You don't...know that!” Leao struggled a little in Mary's grip glaring at her. “You know I'm a goddess so you need to stop being so mean to me!”
Mary just growled as she dug her claws into the tree behind Leao. “Your nothing but a bratty kid that thinks everything has to go her way. I'm more of a goddess compared to you...and I'm a VERY pissed off one at that. A goddess of storms!” Mary roared right in Leao's face with sparks flying from between her fangs. Before Mary could do anything else Danial was up in the tree within another flash of lighting, his hair and eyes that glowing blue as before.
“Let her go Mary. You know it isn't worth it.” His words were as calm as usual even if it was clear he was as angry as his sister. As Mary loosened her grip on Leao he quickly drew his silver gun and put it up against the side of Leao's head. Leao stayed quiet and didn't move an inch as she looked to her left at Danial. “However...I'll say what I know what my sister is thinking. The longer we're here...the more we'll make your life a living hell.” With that said Danial withdrew his gun and Mary let her go before they jumped down from the tree.
Leao was trembling a little as she rubbed her throat. “You two...are pretty mean for new friends.” She huffed at the group but then wished she hadn't. All four of them gave her a death glare. From Mary and Danial it wasn't that bad but… their parents on the other hand were another story. She could tell from the look in their eyes, they were the eyes of someone with the full intent to kill in the most sadistic way possible.
"I swear I'll get everyone out of this nightmare and leave you with only the psychopaths that would be happy to rip you in half, even if I have to burn this place to the ground." Mary growled as there was another clap of thunder, the storm seemingly backing up her words.
Not wanting to take a chance of what an alien ghost could do to her or a supercharged angry teen, Leao took her leave as quickly as she could.
Things had started to settle down, but not for more than a few seconds as more of the cons had shown up due to the storm startling it...a very large bear like one. Danial and their parents were ready to treat it like the others but Mary jumped down from the tree in front of it, she needed to let off some steam. With a large amount of electricity flowing around her along with a lighting bolt coming down straight down on top of her, she let out a roar as she let it all go at once.
“Gigavolt burst!”
Within an instant a sphere of electricity burst around Mary and grew, shocking the con and threw it back into the woods. Once she was finished many of the trees and grass in the area were gone or burnt yet her family was left alone.
Panting hard Mary wobbled where she stood and was about to fall but was caught by her father. “I got ya pumpkin. That was quite the show you put on there.” Thompson laughed a bit as Mary just smiled, more so when her mother was in a bit of a panic checking to see if she was okay.
“I...I'm okay mom. I'm just...a little tired.”
“I”ll get her gloves. We should go find Stella and Toreo before they get into trouble.” Danial sighed a bit feeling a bit tired as well.
“I'm so proud of you for still being such a gentleman like I taught you.” Rita smiled making her son blush a little, more so when he saw her minigun fold up into a small sugar skull that she kept strapped to her thigh under her skirt.
“Welp, let's get going pumpkin.” Thompson put his gun back in its case before he picked Mary up giving her a piggyback ride.
“I...I can walk on my own dad.” Mary blushed.
“Yeah, but think you need a recharge after all this mess.” He took his hat off letting it rest on the end of his tail as the case also hung from it, letting Mary rest her head down atop his buzzed cut blond hair. Letting out a small yawn Mary's eyes slowly started to shut as she drifted off to sleep. Finally, for the first time since she had been a baby, finally, she felt happy.
