"NO! Let me go! Dad, I'm not insane!"
The screams echo down the hallway of the still mansion, falling on the man's deaf ears. "Tell them to let me go! Please!" she pleads, tears welling in her eyes as she clutches desperately to the notebook in her hand.
"You can come see her any time," the head of the facility is saying to her father. "Just call ahead so we can alert her." It seems like she'd been through this many times, having to drag off screaming 17-year-olds.
Finally she falls silent, slumping in the officials' arms despondently. It's obvious he's not coming for her. Ever since she'd died, nothing has been the same.
She allows herself to be carried away to the truck. Somehow the pencil has remained in the notebook this whole time. She huddles into a semi-fetal position in the backseat and begins scribbling on the paper. Nobody ever knows what she's doing, only that she's the strange one with the numbers on her walls.
And as she enters the mental ward, she knows:
Nothing will ever be the same.
