I binge-watched the series and loved it. Looks like something that'd belong in Silent Hill(then again its world bears a resemblance to it as well)

It's...very retro. If you are not a fan of stuff from the 80's you may not like this show, even if the show has a touch more modern acting and storytelling than a show from that period would. Granted I love 80's films so I LOVED this, especially since the directors liberally borrowed a lot of core concepts and style points from Stephen King himself! (Who was very active and arguably at his best during that period). Do note, I'm talking about the BOOKS! There has not been a single movie or tv show adaptation I have seen so far (though I haven't seen Under the Dome or read it) that accurately does King, even films that are well received such as Shining (which misses the point of the protagonist's journey to the point that Stephen King was quite upset at first) and Shawshank Redemption (Which while a great film significantly softens the protagonist's prison experience and Morgan Freeman's character to the point that both are nigh unrecognizable). This is especially disappointing when books like It, which are commentaries on the 50's in general from racism to film to generally growing up, are butchered into cheesy "horror" films. To be honest, a hallmark of King's books is always the characters, and King borrows liberally from his academic literature background to create very good down to earth everyman protagonists and side characters, with the horror elements often simply ways to push them to their limits rather than the focus. Stranger Things does this in spades just as Kind does it, with relatable down to Earth characters pushed to their limits just as we are endeared to them, and it really is a good human focused series, just with horror elements. I'm very happy that King's work has now been successfully translated (even if it was not a direct adaption) and I love the 80's feel and references. I do feel that if you don't like or have no interest in that era that it will not catch you as it has so many others. I would certainly not say it is anything like Dark Souls.

I was born in the 90s but grew up with a sister who loved Stephen King. So I feel I would like the show a lot. Plus, I only mentioned the creature looked like a DS character. Thanks for the insight.
