Standing outside, in the pouring rain
I am here, but why? It matters not to me
The scene before my eyes starts to fade
As I raise my face to the sky and breathe

Breathe...

Something we all take for granted
Like such scenes as this
The sky's warm tears falling upon me
So simple, an elegance to be enjoyed

My mind returns to happier times
When the only thing blue was the sky
Black was a shade unknown to us
As we laughed the days away...

Hard times fall upon us all
Like this very rain running down my chin
Joining the raindrops are my own tears
Bliss and misery in the same instant...

And the rain whispered...
"Carry on, for it doesn't always storm
The sun will return and you'll once again feel warm
Fear not, for this pain is just a passing feeling
Soon enough, you'll find that wound inside is healing"

Despite the red of my eyes
My lips part and form a smile
"Are you gonna come inside?"
"No, I think I'll stay out here for a while..."
