Believe it or not, this is a redesign! And probably one of the most drastic ones so far too... also the 2nd oldest fan character of mine. (The first being Sydney Greene, both technically created at the same time with different names back in 2001, however he was female at the time so...)
On top of that, he too has got a name change! Previously known as Scythe Lance he was basically Syd's equivalent of a rival. Though nowadays he's more of college professor of sorts.
Those of you wondering, yes his new name is an anagram. While trying to figure out his story, this was intended...but the name itself kind of stuck for me so I went with it.
There were a couple other refs started long before this one, but never made it to completion.

It's so refreshing to see a Sonic wolf OC that isn't over designed and crazy looking XD He's so cool, though! I love these types of characters. Knowledge itself can be a powerful feature for a character, and this guy seems to be quite well-read. Lovely OC! I really love his design as well, he looks very interesting, probably because there aren't many characters like this.

Mm, sorry, I was on a little New Year's vacation. I just loved the idea of a Sonic character that's so fully fleshed out, but not even necessarily an action hero at first glance. That he's knowledgeable in all these uncommon studies, and he's wearing a freaking sweater vest, man. Like now that I've seen all this, somehow I could actually believe that he has some crazy hidden talents up his sleeve.
And then I did a little research and found that he's salvaged from a more typical... shounen anime style, I should say. It's kinda mind blowing on a small level in how much /evolution/ it shows. It's just really impressive.
Oh, and it might be the only example of an explicit beard done on a Sonic character that actually looks perfectly fine.

I'm hoping one day I'll sit my ass down and start giving these characters more action/purpose than just presentation.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the 'just cause' part. And I honestly wish I could do trivia so well. I think it's a really important part of making a real, three-dimensional character.Β (I freakin' love that mantis guy, he's hilarious.)
If you ever do get everything set up for character creation and story-making or whatever, let me know! I'd absolutely love to brainstorm with you. It's something of a hobby of mine.

I don't know if Ethan would be very impressed if she was just simply book-smart, though he might think differently if she proves her willingness to learn outside of the classroom~
