Sometimes, we avoid taking photos of certain subjects because they seem boring or unworthy of capture. However, these subjects sometimes create some of the most interesting images.

In this case, I experimented with capturing the back (inside portion) of a lampshade. The lamp was on and was the only light source for this photo. The bulb produced a warm light that brought the color of the shade to life. I put my phone right up inside the shade to take a close up of the texture.

The inside of this lampshade is composed of a silky type of fabric that reflects light, causing it to cast a shine. It also has a texture similar to that of a feather - tiny ribs of peaks and valleys, which creates lines of shadow and highlight.

I processed this photo in snapseed. I brought out the color, texture, and contrast of the light. I was going for abstract and aesthetic.
