Description Year 1213 after the Oath (YatO) - The Written

Writing spread across all tribes, which now put their respective oral traditions down, but these 'Written' differed in very individual letters, languages or dialects and also content between the tribes, despite equally recognizable similarities.

The first version of the 'Written' as they are known today, all copies in a uniform script and language and with identical texts, comes from the post-Oath period. In fact, one can even date the birth of the 'Written' in their contemporary form precisely: In 1213 YatO, representatives of all thirty tribes and the sanctuary of Harna agreed in Hannai on which of the traditional stories about the wise persons and saints should be regarded as 'the true ones' and should be brought together in the canonized text. The priests of Harna documented the agreement on the canonization of the 'Written' and probably filled the first scrolls with its text.

In the present time, this event occurred about two thousand years ago. The scripture that was used, was the Tarib scripture in common use in Harna at that time, that was later called the 'old' scripture. The same one was used to write down the names of the tribes for the first time a little later.

Ultimately, the central Orem sanctuary ensured that the tribes, which had previously acted alone rather than with one another, came together at least on an intellectual and religious level through the rapid spread of the unified 'Written' and the also unified used scripture, because it made clear the cultural similarities of the Tarib to everyone above any tribal barriers. But it took several more centuries, before the tribes actually began to cooperate politically and militarily.

During these centuries, the meeting places became places of worship and trading, and members of all tribes increasingly gave up their nomadic lives and settled the plains along the great rivers of the West.

Some settlements continued to feel connected to one or another tribe from which their inhabitants came, but others found themselves in conflict with the tribes, whose herds grazed the settlements fields before the harvest, and fought them as bandits. In addition, both tribes and cities coexisted with each other in a way that was anything but peaceful.

The German text I wrote in 2023 for my website, the English version of the text was made by me in 2024 with help of the Google Translator (for enhanced vocabulary) and 'Language Tool' (to check spelling). The graphic I made with Old Sogdian number symbols and letters from 'Noto Sans Old Sogdian' (Copyright 2012 Google Inc. All Rights Reserved.) with GIMP in 2023.
