A little drawing to overcome the kind of art block I always get during the holidays when I finally have time for drawing.
I wanted to draw something autumn-themed. I guess we've had the last few days with nice weather here in Germany, now it is starting to get cold and grey and rainy and I already miss summer.
The pose reference for the lion was from a photo by the fantastic zoo photographer ~Svenimal .
This graphite drawing on A4 paper took roughly four hours and I somehow like how it came out, even though I still can't draw backgrounds properly.
It has been a while since the last time I've drawn a lion, but still - I get the impression that I'm always drawing the same things. Horses, big cats, horses again.
Maybe I should start a little project to motivate me to draw only things I've never done before... What do you think about that?

Yes, I had a total lack of motivation when I drew this, this was only something to get over my art block, so it is very messy and has no details.
Thank you! Yes, a manatee would be a great idea, I have never drawn one. (though, I guess I have a small drawing of somewhere on my school stuff, I was sitting next to a guy in class maybe a year or two ago who always drew small comic things, and he loved manatees, too. So he drew one on my folder. ^-^ )

Ja, das werde ich dann mal machen... Landschaften muss ich auf jeden Fall mal üben, an Menschen und Anatomie taste ich mich momentan ein bisschen heran. Und was ich unbedingt mal lernen muss, ist alles, was in Richtung Digital Art geht. Da verzweifle ich leider total. Und wenn ich später vielleicht doch irgendwas in Richtung Design machen will, ist Panik vor Grafikprogrammen wohl nicht so praktisch.

Deine Menschen sind doch auch schon echt ordentlich (: ja das stimmt schon gerade im Studium macht man einiges am PC, ein traditionelles Fundament geht aber über alles, die Programme werden dir auch im Studium meist noch beigebracht (schadet natürlich nie sich Vorkenntnisse anzueignen, oder zumindest PC affin zu sein).

Erstmal - sorry für die späte Antwort - ich war die letzten Tage in Berlin und komme leider erst jetzt dazu, meine Nachrichten 'abzuarbeiten'.
Danke! Wenn ich mich jetzt durch meine Klausurenphase und durchs Vorabi durchgeprügelt hab, muss ich noch ein paar Studien zum Thema Menschen machen - vielleicht mache ich das sogar mal digital.
Mir macht das Arbeiten digital eigentlich auch total Spaß, ich hab auch mal ein Praktikum in einer Werbeagentur gemacht, daher kann ich einigermaßen mit Photoshop umgehen... Aber bei so einem riesigen Programm hab ich nicht mal die Spitze des Eisbergs gesehen, sondern vielleicht erstmal den einen oder anderen Pinguin beiseite geschoben. (Ich bin zu doof für Metaphern, ich hoffe du verstehst mich halbwegs 
Das ist dann aber gut zu hören, dass das im Studium noch mal auf dem Programm steht. Ich dachte, das würde vorausgesetzt werden.
