This work is absolutely amazing, It really captures how Luna and Nightmare Moon fit together both being the same pony. I love the detail on the manes and the stars from Nightmare Moon's wings and the perspective of Luna staring up at her like she is flying towards the moon while she focuses on Nightmare Moon. I also love the background with the blends of different shades and colors filled of blues and turquoises, it fits the scene so beautifully. I really must say, keep up your wonderful artwork like this piece! Absolutely great work!

Not too long ago, I gave Jowybean's "Mid Night Stadium" a perfect review. It's safe to say that this piece is the second perfect Luna drawing that I have seen on this site.
This picture knows exactly what it wants to convey. Not only is Luna coming to grips with her past, but she is also observing the contrast between her and Nightmare Moon, as are we. Now the aspect that struck me the most was the red moon or sphere behind Nightmare Moon. I remembered that a few months ago, many people were concerned about the Lunar Eclipse that would happen. They feared that the apocalypse would happen, or that people would go crazy, or that any form of chaos would ensue. I think that's what you can infer with this drawing. Nightmare Moon is like the Lunar Eclipse. She wants to bring chaos into the world, trying to bring chaos and havoc onto our beloved land. As the violent natural satellite rises, so does the evil mare. Fortunately, Princess Luna is here to protect her land from catastrophe. She's a Lunar Eclipse no more. She's now a soothing, and much more gentle moon. She's ready to launch the moon towards the dastardly demon and rid her once and for all. Her past is not to destroy her, nor the land she loves.
Even though the idea of Luna confronting her past has been done, like, a zillion times before, you made it original, with your symbolism. Whether it was intentional or not, the choice you made to put a red sphere behind Nightmare Moon was especially insightful. It gave an amazing portrayal of what Luna was like back then, as well as what she is like now.
I absolutely adore the way you blended all the colors. Everything from the horseshoe tracks that Luna leaves behind herself, to the sparkles that the moon shoots across the sky, to the lengthy tail that she has is so magical. I found it interesting that you chose to paint NM with hot colors instead of the traditional cold. Yet, it emphasizes the hostility within the villainess. The blending of the colors is especially enchanting. I feel like I've been transported to this soothing, yet frightening, world. And it's all captivating.
When I view this painting, I feel scared, but also hopeful. I sense that Nightmare Moon is coming, and I fear my life is at stake. However, I sense that Luna will be here to protect me; to protect everyone. I feel safe; I feel secure; I feel that everything will be alright as long as we fight until the very end.
All in all, I adore the chose you made to put that red sphere behind Luna. I can't stop obsessing over it. It's one of the few drawings on this sight that inspired me to do some research. So thank you, BlindCoyote, for helping me learn about satellites! You clearly did a thorough job at painting this picture. Keep up the the tremendous work, and I hope to review more work from you in the future!

I love the contrast of the lights and darks, and I also love the contrast of Nightmare Moon vs. Princess Luna.
Plus, I love the Bob Ross quote. Classic!

A very strong piece. Magnificent.
Luna's position looks epically dramatic. I can feel that tension ironically right above Her. Those hoofprints She left...it's like they are placed on the red carpet, but the carpet is blue in our case. The trail made of Her tail. And that's astonishing, that's unusual.
I really love how you gave that effect of fluidity on Her hair, specifically on the back. As I see, it surely represent the stargazing river flowing from Her head, then going on Her back and leaving into the air.
And wings...They are made in such way that I can't barely remember if I've seen something like that before. I mean like everything about them: the way they appears (they seem so feathery and fluffy), the way they are...scattered on the ground. That's what I've called a dramatic, a heartbreaking position of Her. It's so powerful and indescribable...

This is astonishingly beautiful. I've spent a good amount of time now just looking closely at it and marveling at how amazing it is. I think this might be my absolute favorite Luna art now.
