At first glance it is very realistic. The detail you have in this picture is phenomenal (down to the ribbing of the zipper!). The amount of time spent on this is obvious. You nailed the shadowing, however, for proper critique from others you might want to link the reference picture ( Which can be found here: [link] ) I gotta say, I love the hair and jacket!
The hands (which honestly take me *forever* to do!) are very well done, though a bit thin. The face looks off-- but that is mostly contributed to the gaunt look to the right side of his face and the shortening to his chin. In the future just watch the shading-- too dark and it gives the illusion of deep grooves.
The neck looks a bit like... Jabba the Hutt after losing 2 tons. (In other words it's just a bit saggy..) with a bit less of heavy shading it'd be spot on.
I wish you would have gone into a bit more detail on the left side (our right) of his glasses frame.
Again nicely done, I feel you captured the essence of John Lennon in this.

the only thing wrong worth pointing out is his left eye, which looks a bit slanted!
Just relax with your drawings, don't strive too much for total realism after all you're not supposed to re-creating a photgraph! It should be your expression or impression of that photograph that is the point of any drawing, surely!

haha, thanks! if you had told me that when i drew this a few years ago, i wouldn't have believed you / wouldn't really have understood. but now i completely know what
you mean, and would do the drawing very differently today.

thanks, i just took the hair small bits at a time, and tried to not think of it as hair but just shadows and shapes. it took a while to look like anything, but when i was done it was like "hey, that works"
