something that's actually been sitting half done for a few weeks and finally finished tonightno alt mode pics but like my old design they have been changed the general shape is like a tear drop and that becomes with a few bits of kibble moving around a Shark, drag car, helicopter, jet, and a turret (ok the turret is the sucky alt mode no one ever uses)
EDIT: Yes this is the original picture that was used by hasbro Asia without my consent in the bonus coin packet (and as of the 29/09/12 still no recognition)

crazy I wonder if theirs like a right way to deal with this...I mean on the one hand my art is being used to generate money without any consent (do they even need it?) On the other my art is on an offical merc and thats all sorts of awesome

I was going to buy this set. And now I'm certainly buying it.
Despite the suck part that some employee stole your work, for whatever Hasbro's gonna respond, such incident is still a markable event between the official product and fandom.
Still, I hope Hasbro will end this in a honorable way.

Given all the hoo-har over 3rd party IP infringement lately, it's kinda ironic TT would use a piece of fan-art on an official product. I'm not sure how you'd go about it man, but it might be worth getting this looked into

@hinomars19: The product was published by Hasbro on behalf of Takara Tomy. So you are blaming the wrong company. Because Hasbro was present at the "Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong" convention and one of the photos shows that they are the producer/publisher of this version.
And...
@Blitz-Wing: You need to contact the Hong Kong copyright offices and see if your artwork is protected there. But remember that it is a 50/50 bit because Hasbro co-owns the character and they used a silhouette version. But them doing this has me question why they chose to do it in the first place.

Isn't it a Japanese product with Takara/Tomy stamped on the box? I'm not looking for legals here; I'm well aware I don't understand the difference between what company does what and where. If it's a finer point that another company is responsible for the actual product whilst TT's name just gets stuffed on the box, then I apologise. I wasn't particularly making an attack on TT either, just pointing out quite an ironic point; It's an official product carrying the work of an un-assuming fan artist, seemingly randomly plucked from Deviant art.
I'm not sure if this has been investigated, so I don't know if either company is aware of the situation. For all I know the guy they contracted for the box art got lazy and traced something without either company knowing.
If they do know, well...
I understand the tricky situation this brings up legaly. But at the end of the day, isn't Blitzwing just an innocent victim here? He doesn't sell fan art. He makes no money from Hasbro/TT's I.P. Hasbro owns the character, the I.p and all that, but this boils down to art theft on a kind of pointless scale, no? You'd expect this of dodgy companies...but this has Takara's mark on it, and you say Hasbro has involvement...so...at least shouldn't they be above such...childishness? Why not contact Blitz and ask if they can use and alter his work? I don't feel it's right you should believe you are above another person. They can, if they wish, claim rights to any fan art containing there designs, but what's wrong with being polite?
I know people may say I'm being naieve...but I really wish everyone, including big business, would just kinda grow up. I doubt Blitz would've complained, I know I wouldn't have.
And one final note, if it's OK for whoever to take Blitz's art and change it by using a silhouette, then how much claim can they have on the original art, when this image is Blitz's own re-design of the character? Isn't it the same thing? Blitz took a hasbro character and changed his look. They took a picture from Blitwing, and changed it's look?
Not looking for a fight, or placing blame, just talking common sense. Good point about the copyright issue over in Hong Kong. Basically it boils down to people tossing morality out the window, so long as some law says it's OK.

Takara Tomy (as it has been called since 2006), or TOMY, is one of those Japanese brands that has brands and branches outside of Japan. For example, they continue to use the name TOMY on a number of products in North America. However, the Transformers brand is like Dr. Pepper - Two different companies produce the same product in different regions. And unlike Dr. Pepper, Hasbro and Takara Tomy share the responsibility for production and other things. However, Hasbro does have more factories in China than Takara Tomy, which allows them to produce toys for them. And because of that, they just need to get permission to produce what they design... IF they are the ones designing it.
As for his artwork, he is a victim on grounds that they used a silhouette of his own creation without his permission. Best he can do right now is file a complaint to their corporate office both here and in their Asia branch, as well as a letter to Takara Tomy. I have to give a reason of the doubt that Takara Tomy does not know, but there is no proof to that. And while he needs to get this looked upon, I also recommend that he just ask for recognition of his art piece, as well as maybe a chance to do art for future products - If they also like his designs at that time.
That is just my opinion as I think he could get the recognition, it might help him get work when he chooses to go professional or semi-professional.

1st off i luv this ! great depiction of the big guy . 2nd what about instead of a turret u try out a six shooter type mode ? like the old west pistols with a cybertronian twist . or maybe a gatling gun ? just offerin ideas cuz u expressed that u didnt favor the turret mode .

That's okay, there were plenty of toys for which the humanoid form was the sucky alt mode... Turret is, seems to me, a better 'sucky' alt to have than most.
Plus, that is a killer head on this guy. Pure awesome.
