Description YES! It’s finally back! Hyrotrioskjan is doing another spec evolution challenge! Okay, so the prompt for this one was “noodle bird” and that gave me so many ideas I couldn’t pick one! So this is what I came up with:

Bred for social media these birds were selectively bred for their instagramable feathers and meme worthy quirks.

1. The Ramen Pheasant
Inspired by fancy pigeons, this bird was created by crossing the silver pheasant (Lophura nycthemera) with the common pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) this bird gets colorful plumage and beautiful wavy tail feathers. The breed standard for this bird is a wavy ramen noodle tail, wings that look like hard boiled eggs, shiny green head, and speckled body. The more this pheasant looks like a bowl of ramen the better. Some owners like to place their birds in large bowls and take artsy photos.

2. The Ramen peacock
Inspired by the Ramen Pheasant, some people wanted to take things to the next level. If one has the  time, money, and space, then consider this beautiful bird- the Ramen Peacock. Descended from the Indian peafowl, better known as a peacock(Pavo cristatus). The breed standard is similar to that of the pheasant mentioned above. I’ll be honest I don’t know exactly how this bird was created but it looked cool so I added it to the list.

3. PASTA BIRB!
This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the prompt. I have a group text called pasta bird because I sent a picture of a snowy egret I saw on spring break and my friend said it had a spaghetti neck. And so I give you the Pasta Bird, a domesticated species of snowy egret(Egretta thula). The neck was elongated even more and dwarfism made the legs short. Breeders are still working on a longer tail so that the egret looks more noodle like. And the breeders said “let there be memes” and there were memes.

4. Penne Bettern www.deviantart.com/blitzandbla…
This bite sized heron was bred from the least bittern(Ixobrychus exilis), the smallest of the heron family. Best kept in large flocks, these birds resemble a living bowl of pasta.

5.The Great Noodle bird
A species of Anhingas, you’ll often find them waddling through the Everglades to the water where they snake through the reeds in search of fish. Like a few other species from the Everglades, they started out as pets but have since returned to the wild. They probably won’t last long.

Do selectively bred species still count for the challenge?

leave a comment of which is your fav and the most popular one will get a stand alone picture.
