Description

This character is turning out to be SO MUCH WORK. I was trying to do outfit design but realized I hadn't settled on her body colors yet, so I took a step back and started there. So, here's a rough color test / base for Atheress standard form.

Some details I'm fairly sure I want to keep:

Approximately 7 heads high as her normal, muscular self.

I've landed on blue-grey fur so far and black, highlighted hair. I'm not quite as set on the highlight color or pattern, but I'm liking some kind of reddish-pink so far.

Shortened her pony-tail to leave room for hair growth as she transforms/heats up.

Any feedback at all is welcome!

I appreciate it! I like listening to whatever anyone thinks whether it's paragraphs or just a couple sentences.

yeah i like this!!! i like it a lot. maybe i would saturate her eye color more so it was easier to tell from a faraway glance that it was a difference color from her fur (the pale limegreen teal blue iris-color just looks like it could be the same color as her lightgrey fur before any inspection... either make it less pale or if you don’t like how it looks after saturating it make it less pale AND a different color?? idk it’s up to u obviously, i could be way off with this) but other than that i dont even have any suggestions....

maybe figure out how to imply the same amount of musculature/fur detail/body detail with less linework to make it easier to redraw her? like how cartoon animators on action cartoons like Bruce Timm’s Batman in the 90s streamlined and optimized their ability to draw full comicbook musculature so they could draw 24 frames a second for 22 minutes straight of superhero comic characters without going insane (although the real trick is cartoons always outsource their inbetween frame drawings to korea or taiwan or somewhere)

on second glance tho, you barely need to saturate her eyecolor at all, it’s already almost saturated enough to be noticeable as a different color from her lightgrey fur from a cursory glance. depending on how your drawing software calculates saturation, maybe like a 12-35% saturation increase would do it. maybe 12% is too much even

it’s really good tbh. she really looks cool. cant wait to see her outfit design. i just heard about something called a keyhole-sweater.... maybe do like a sportswear version of that? and workout shorts? all darkish navy blue with the same color trim as her hair outline beFORE she hulks up, so when she hulks up, you can see the difference in haircolor from pink to redpink to red compared to the still-pink trim on her clothing?

Interesting thoughts! I think you're right and I may saturate her eye color just a bit more to differentiate between it and her fur.

As for the outfit, I'm still torn on what I want to do. I'd like her outfit to be more fantasy/adventure themed, and I've tried quite a few things already and tossed them out. I'm currently thinking about using Nailah (Fire Emblem) as a starting point and modifying/adding from there. I might try to add in some Barbarian/Monk elements to her outfit as well to reflect her style of combat.
