Description This would make a good story for TUGS. In this picture, Ten Cents passes by Top Hat after seeing two steam engines being taken away by a diesel over the bridge. On the other side of Top Hat is a diesel tug. I just thought this would be a good story to see how the characters of TUGS would react to the fact that diesel power is starting to come to Bigg City Port.

You know that the Great Ocean Tug and Salvage Company Fleet (from Theodore Tugboat) are powered by diesel.

Most steam tugs were just refitted with diesel engines you know.

How is that possible?Ā

To refit a steam tug into a diesel tug?

You remove the boiler, take the engine out (As is necessary for some maintenance) and install a diesel engine on the same driveshaft.

So the Star Tugs could just become dieselized and continue their misadventures along with the Z-Stacks?

Hmmm, intresting.

But Bigg City Port is supposed to be set in America, and the steam and diesel trains in the picture are British.

Actually, I've written a story about TUGS in the 50s, early 60s - which anachronistically includes nuclear dealership - with them being dieselized in the end, instead of being replaced.

Where can I read this story?

You can find them here:

But I should warn you that I've written these years ago, when my grasp on the English language was rather... Lackluster, to say the least. I'm planning on rewriting them.

Well, you can thank Salty's lighthouse for making this possible.

Yeah.... But it was thanks to Salty's Lighthouse that I learned about TUGS in the first place...

well... time isnt much longer for the tugs of bigg city port.... either they will have to be fitted with diesel, or be scrapped....

Not so.... Maybe they'll suffer the same fate that Thomas and his friends did... Which is work with diesels.
