When I was a small child we used to visit a very elderly relative who lived in the heart of the Irish countryside. Her house had no electricity and no plumbing, water was kept in two barrels just inside the cottage door. A bowl of water was always placed on top of the barrels for visiting robins. If we sat very quietly, the robins would come into the kitchen looking for bread crumbs.... I could go on Robins bring back happy memories.
