I love that in your comments you told people how to make them themselves! I'm working on an Azula cosplay and this was more helpful than some tutorials I've read

Well, thank you!

I don't see why I shouldn't tell people how to make things like this themselves, the more the better! I've found that some people want to make cosplay items but the process for whatever they're making seems so complicated in the online tutorials and they just give up before they ever try (I know, I'm usually one of those people ) I'm happy I could be of help!

What size was the copper and how'd you cut it out?

It was actually pretty simple. I just glued the pattern onto a 5" by 7" copper sheet (I think it was about 3mm thick) then cut it out with a jeweler's saw. After that, just file the edges smooth so it won't catch on things, then sand, buff and bend (around a bracelet mandrel or just your wrist).

If you want to do it yourself, there's plenty of tutorials on the web. [link] Starting at paragraph 5 is simple instructions for the pattern and cutting bits.

Where do you get the copper sheet? And would you have any suggestions if we wanted to make something like this, but don't have a jewelers saw? Would metal snips work?

Sorry for the questions, but I really want to make something like this for a cosplay I'm doing.

Questions are good! Don't ever apologize for wanting to learn!

I've found metal sheets at my local Hobby Lobby though those are only 3"x3".

Metal snips might work (I've never tried). If the snips did cut the metal, the only problems I could think would be, depending on the strength of your metal snips and the thickness and composition of your metal, the metal might deform slightly where it was snipped. Which might be able to be fixed by lightly hammering (with a softer material (such as rubber) hammer so as to not mar the metal) it back to flat. I would advise experimenting on scrap pieces similar to what you're going to use for the final piece to see what works and what doesn't.

Or, if you're in school, you might try asking the art department or some of the students who work in metalsmithing or similar mediums if they have something you might be able to use. If you do find someone to borrow from, ask their opinion as well, if they have any tips or tricks they'd be willing to share (after all, I'm hardly an expert).

I didn't think you were going to reply to me! Haha.
I did a lot of research because of that. I ended up getting gauge 20 copper sheet online. it's thick enough that it will hold it's shape nicely and soft enough to be cut nicely. None of my local art supply stores carried any of the stuff. I also wanted to get copper because I'm starting to do copper enameling, so I ended up getting quite a bit. and I actually ended up buying a jewelers saw. I didn't know how inexpensive they were! I'm still waiting for that to come in the mail though.

Thanks for your reply though! it was helpful!
