_____ This was an experiment to see if I could get a mix of Vue materials to put snow on a tree and have it caught on the craggy bark on the windward side._____ The musk ox was a newly released freebie I added in. And then he needed something to look at. I don't know, I just put two golden spheres in there to simulate a pear. Nevertheless, a lot of people find this simple image to be quite memorable. I hope you enjoy it.

there's so much i like about this. it's hard rendering dimension, distance, and texture in snow, but that's all here. a lot of subtlety in the shading, attention to detail in the shadows. it's really lovely.

you know i didn't do any of that, right? it's all in the render engine ; )
the 3d stuff, the only painting on it is the photo-editing to fix mistakes and junk, and fluffing out the hair/fur. oh, and adding the musk ox's breath.

This has been a favorite of mine for over 10 years and still is. There's something about it that intrigues me.
