I have the fat and the slim, couple of them actually and they all still work as new. Only thing I had to do to them was keep them clean. The fat haves some problems running smoothly couple of newer needy games but in general it works great. The most interesting thing about the slim one that I bought in 2006 is that the original joypads that I got in the pack still work as new. The 1st slim console I bought in 2005, his controllers didnt had the same working age. It only lasted about 2 years, usually it was at my friend's place and he managed to broke it completely... Another interesting thing is that my PSone is still in great condition same as the PS2 s. They really made quality consoles back in the day, those consoles have a long lasting. Now consoles last 3-4 years, if you're lucky, (Xbox360 is even worse, I know lots of people who had their Xbox360 broke down after year or 2) and then they are fried, leaving you no other option but to buy a new one. Marketing tricks these days...

On the other side, I usually buy broken down Playstations (1 & 2), repair them and later sell them. I don't have any profit in all that really. I just like to see a living Playstation console instead of ending his life in the dumpster. Also like to see how someone who likes playstations is happy that haves this console once again.

PS1 & PS2 will never die for me, no matter what. I will always enjoy them.

I have the fat and slim PS2 still. It works but the fat one has trouble playing some games. The slim one, I have to always put something heavy on top so it can load it. I'm thinking of getting a new PS2 controller, this one has been having problems, ruins the fun.

Oh man, I know how you feel. I went to gamestop yesterday and spent 100+ bucks on PS2 games. Still some of the most fun I've had.

I just got a PS2 and it looks like a cool upgrade from my PSone. If it plays PS and PS2 games then it's still got to be good. That and it plays Digimon games.

The Ps2 isn't poor, if anything at all, it would be Bill gates, considering it is the best selling console. Ever.
But this makes me eel sorry for it. But I betcha the Playstation 2 will have a life longer than the Neo-geo.

yeah, I saw the slim silver PS2 at walmart for like $120 the other day - but theyre still making games, I know Manhunt 2 just came out on PS2, im sure they'll keep making Ps2 games for another year or 2...
