The hot tears coated Kora's face as she looked down into the coffin containing her deceased mother. She felt a hand grasp her shoulder. Gasping, She looked behind her to see a sad Robert Stewart gazzing down at her, "It's okay, honey. She's in a better place now." he said. Kora could tell he was choking back tears. (He probably thinks he's too cool to cry at a funeral) she thought with a weak smile. Not able to handle the pain, she walked outside and and sat on a bench. She felt lonely and cold.(Damn,) she thought to herself.(Why didn't I bring a jacket). Mr. Stewart came outside, shivered, and turned to Kora saying, "Sweaty, it's time to go into the church."

Her Aunt Nelly was speaking behind the alter, her voice shakey and sad. "Elaine was probably the best sister any woman could ask for. She was there for me-", she gulped with a flash of pain in her eyes. "She was there for everybody when we needed her, and never gave up no matter how ridiculous. That's why it'll be hard to carry on wothout her. Besides-," she gave a weak smile "the Stewart family was a family of needy people, I must admit." Therewere a few quiet laughs. She looked down at the coffin. "We will all miss you, Elaine." she saud, stepping away from the alter.

When they got home, since Kora couldn't handle seeing them bury her mother, they decided dinner wasn't such a good idea and instead went to their seperate rooms. "Dad I'm going to take a bath first OK?" she said. "OK" her father said.

In the hot water it feels like the stress is going away, but if mom was here then I wouldn't feel so alone. At least I still have dad. I wonder what my first day of high school is going to be like.

"Dad, it's all your.....Dad?" Kora called for her dad but entered his room to see he was asleep. "You're unbelievable" she whispered.(He did have a pretty ruff day, he deserves his sleep) she thought. When she entered her bedroom she could've swore she saw something out her bedroom window. " Hello,"she called, "who's out there." still no reply. She looked out, almost straining her eyes, and could just make out a male looking figure.(Maybe I'm more tired than I thought).

"Kora, wake up" her dad was shaking her. (Some first day of school). "I;m up Dad, thank you" she said "For what?" he questioned. " For being my dad!" she said.
