Description The overlook at Lab Hollow in Tully

Nikon D3500

Edit: thanks for all the favs on this piece! I was no expecting it to blow up in this way! there is a lot of beautiful geology at play here. These hills and valleys were all caused by a glacial event thousands of years ago, which is so cool to think about. At one point, this area was buried under and carved by ice. When I look at a space like this, I feel like I am looking back through time. I am thinking of all the geological events that had to happen to make this area possible- and the manmade events, too. The areas that are grassy fields would not be there without human interference. For what it is worth, it is beautiful. Looking out at a scape like this is looking out through history. It is not only visualizing, but learning to love the massive ice sheets that carved this land and made it what it was. It is being in awe of the bedrock we stand on, continental crust that has been moved all over the globe and rested here briefly enough for us to enjoy. There is a lot geology can make us think about, because the lifespan of the earth is so long compared to the lifespan of humanity, which has only existed for .007% of time on a geological scale. The earth is endlessly old, and I am constantly humbled by it.
