Description Thumbnail 8, and a bit of a flat painting test, no lines at all. Not sure if I like the style or not so i likely wont do it again until i've had more practice at it and not rushed through it, but that's what this thumbnail thing has been about, finding out what things work and what doesn't.

I wanted to do a scene which comes up in one of the future chapters which takes place at one of my all time favourite places, Bayham Abbey, with Storm. The place is just a ruin now, with just a few arched windows and weathered walls and columns remaining. My favourite bit of the place though is the high altar area where there's nothing but a stone slab and the wall behind has this gigantic beech tree that's been growing on the walls for decades with its roots entwined within the brickwork just overshadowing the church and the remaining pillars. There's always been something wonderfully poetic in it to me with the tree taking over one of the most prominent places of a church, and when it's foggy there there's always this really strange feeling to the place, like you almost expect to walk past preists who once lived there.

Ah, I love this place, was there a little while ago.
That's my favorite tree, do you live around there?

I love pictures that incorporate historical sites and ruins, they make me feel history (if that makes any sense).  There are so many historical sites that IMO would be enhanced by a visit of wings.

Great to see more SB stuff!! This is amazing, the way you made the fog is perfect, not too much but not too little... the overall feel is so mysterious and quiet and eerie. I also wish I could draw trees half as well as you!!!
