Description I remember when I was young,
I didn't have a care in the world.
It was great being so innocent,
so unafraid.

It started when I wasn't too old,
a cage began to form.
It's invisible bars growing,
until I was trapped in a prison that was my mind.

If I wear this, what will people think?
If I say this, will I look dumb?
I want to go and try a lot of things,
but my prison holds me back.

Sometimes I feel I've escaped my prison,
and I grin and run ahead,
but I find I'm just on a leash.
I get snapped back and it hurts.

I just want to be confident,
so say what's on my mind,
to do what I want to do,
but my own mind tells me not to.

This is nice, I can relate to it. It sort of summarizes what everyone feels everyday. We care way to much about what others think and like the poem explains we can't break through those bars.Β

Thank you Yeah, I basically tried to convey all my emotions about the subject into one poem. It may not be too artistic, but I didn't feel like it needed to be really. I think we all feel self conscious no matter how bold or confident we are.

I feel that all that stuff they teach you in school about how to properly write a poem is blah! A poem has no rules and no need for proper structure. It is about how one feels and emotions,to tell a tale, to inspire. Rules can't do that, but tha is was I think.
