After months of progress with Cosmo to one day get him purified, Rebecca has felt comfortable enough to bring him along when she did her training practice with Zack and Alabasta. She is so focused on them that she didn't notice Cosmo is silently behind her, levitating rocks. It seems Cosmo started to feel jealous that Zack and Alabasta are getting more attention from his trainer than him, plus with the help of the shadow virus making his negative emotions even worse, spurred him into wanting to attack her.

  Rebecca then turns around when she finally notices he is behind her.
"Cosmo? What's wrong?" she said calmly while Alabasta is also startled by suddenly sensing the increase in Cosmo's shadow aura.

Somehow by hearing Rebecca's soft question is able to snap Cosmo out of his anger and is so startled that he stopped using his psychic powers and dropped the rocks. Rebecca then cautiously walks up to him which is when she then notices Cosmo is now not looking at her and lost in his own thoughts. Meanwhile Alabasta is now puzzled that she is no longer sensing the shadow aura around him as much as before and Zack is staying by Rebecca's side in case he gets more upset.

  Despite what he was about to do was wrong, the fact he actually stopped before attacking her gave Rebecca hope that it's just a step in the right direction of getting him purified.
