I grabbed a gold bee and went into Yuga's fight. When I pulled out the bee, it didn't recognize Yuga as an enemy. It just stayed flying by my head. I dunno if that's what it does for all bosses, but for Yuga at least, here's an answer

And to think the badge wasn't required for that in ALTTP.  Back then, all you needed was to capture a bee and set it loose.
