Download for Full SizeThis is a drawing that I did in my journal at school on the 5th. It's my character Static in Minecraft again, like in my drawing .:Traveler:. .
In the game Minecraft, the tenth "layer" of the world is the magma layer. Basically, it's a common depth for magma lakes. I, however, dig under this layer anyways since a lot of the diamonds I find are down there. Unfortunately, I find magma more often than I find diamond. I have to say, it's quite distressing to be mining along and suddenly have a face full of magma. I'm getting skilled at plugging leaks quickly though~!

lava moves slowly, so you can get away. or, drink a potion of fire resistance.

Sometimes I just think that Notch just rigged the cacti to regenerate in the one spot where you're most likely to die, like at the bottom of a cliff. XD
And then you fall off and die of fall damage and cactus spines! XDDD

It's actually more likely if you die in or near lava, most of your items will fall in and be BURNED.

Don't you find it annoying about how many times you're hunting for diamond and get charred by lava instead? XD Happened to me waaaay too many times.

I've gotten smarter about it as I've gone on, so now I tend to play Minecraft pretty safely. Before I got to know the game really well, though, I would die ALL THE TIME. Especially environmental deaths. Lava, falling, suffocation, fire... a cactus... Yes, I've died to a cactus before.

Better idea, if you hit lava, go higher because diamond is best found just above it, so if your hitting lava, your a tad too low.

XD happens, 2 options: RUN or PLUG lava is not very fast, so it's usualy easy to run from.

I sometimes do both! I run a few paces back and then block my mine.

Magma everywhere! I can see how that'd cause a bit of panic...
Must do wonders for your reflexes though. Ready to switch from "dig" to "plug the hole" in an instant!

Indeed. I cannot express my panic from the first time I found lava/magma in Minecraft. At first, there was confusion. Then, there was screaming.
Meh, Sonic games have honed my reflexes pretty far already. Minecraft does help, though. Minecraft can be surprisingly scary at times.

My hotbar while mining under level 10 goes as follows: 1-Torch, 2-Pick, 3-Hole plugging material of some sort, and 4-Water bucket.
