Gee I layed it thick... It looks like a gouache.Winsor and Newton watercolor on Arche CP paper

The company Winsor & Newton have a line that is 'professional' & a line that is less expansive, as for student. I use both. The Winsor & Newton 'Cotman' watercolor is not expansive, particularly when it is on sale, and it gives beautiful vibrant colors. I use their blues often for to do my skies. I would recommand you Cotman watercolor.

Also, if you want to develop your skills with watercolor, the quality of the paper is what is the most important. It is the base.

Great! You see, I've learned that trying to represent a picture, a waterscape, without sky is very difficult. Your serie 'Memories Of Fall 2008' is so inspiring! If/when I'll paint another of your serie, I'll choose one with a sky! It will be easier to balance colors & light.
