Description Watched Splatoon: Dawn of a Hero again, then an idea came to me: What if everything was BACKWARDS? Like, instead of the Inklings being the good guys (Madeline and Berry) and the Octarians being the bad guys (Valentina), what if roles were switched?

[Note: This is a concept. The original creator of the series is by BerryMitchels ]

Say hello to Val; A scout that is often tormented by her own kind due to her previous acts. She became this way a few years ago, after she was booted out of the Octarian Army for not following orders. This eventually led Val to hide in her home again, or at least what was left of it. It turned out that while she was in the army, her home had been burned down by a group of Inklings. With nowhere else to go, Val decided to try and redeem herself by heading to Inkopolis.

However, on her way there, she noticed something different about the city than what she had heard of: Everything was gloomy, and the air reeked of an unidentified smell. She later discovered of a mass murder that had occurred, and the bodies were her fellow Octarians. Completely traumatized of what she saw, Val fled to where she assumed was the middle of nowhere. She encountered two inklings that looked like they had gone insane, and she didn't even remember them! Next thing Val knew, one of the Inklings tossed a grenade at her feet, and she luckily survived the explosion.

Val woke up in a dark room, with now almost fully-black hair and white burn tips. She was incredibly shaken up after the event, and started developing a fear of weapons. Eventually, one of the scouts came in and recruited her as one of them. She absolutely hated the idea of being a scout, as it would mean she had to risk her life and possibly get killed by another group of Inklings. On her very first mission, she encountered an Inkling that almost killed her, but spared her life on account to her never coming back to Inkopolis. This was an incredibly hard task for her, since she had to do what she was told or she would be excluded from the safety of the underground and be left to fend for herself.
