Great shot! The bird is wonderfully focused, background is nicely blurred, and the dominating green is beautiful.

On this photo all I really did was a slight exposure compensation and sharpening a bit. I really hate sitting on the computer and doing post work. The most time I'll spend doing post work is on multi-shot ski/snowboard pics (such as this: [link] )
As for the lens I used an 80-300mm don't remember the brand at the moment.
You have a good Christmas also! lol American's celebrate it in the 25th like every other countries but sometimes people have present opening on the 24th.

lol your snowboard pic looks pretty much like a rendering if you did it with a tripod (I do think so), why not capture different stages of airtime?
well, I thought you'd done more on your finch, as I said, colours and blur look to good to be true you must have been very lucky OR camping for a long tome as to what I do on pics like sofia's, let me strike out a little:
first, I run it through lightroom, adjusting temperature, single color hue/saturation/luminosity, noise, vignetting, exposure and highlight/shadow lightness. then I run it through photoshop and do the same more finely. THEN I suddenly see that there are freckles, shades and generally unsmooth skin on the face which I gotta get rid of. when I'm done with that, I see that the rest now looks artificial, and work on that too. THEN, I realize that there are single hairs strutting out from the mass, which require for immediate and utter annihiliation. after a few hours of such messing around, the picture is technically closer to a painting than a photograph.
or in short: you really DONT want to see the raw xD
well, I'll get to work on it once more immediately. or draw a naruto for a change. whatever exactly that is.
and as of christmas: I wasn't sure whether you guys celebrated on 23rd or 25th. we do it today, on 24th.
and don't you mind me writing complete novels right now, I'm pretty sauced at the moment^^
have a nice 'un,
alex

Hay thar young one.
I'm sorry, that just popped into my mind when I saw this.
I like how she (is it a she? I can't tell..) looks so ladylike, perched up on that little stalk, almost like she's saying "I demand better quality birdseed."
Again, I know absolutely nothing about photography, but I've noticed nearly all your bird photos either have a black background, or a sharp focus on the subject, and a blurry background. It looks great and all, but if you take a step back and look at your gallery, it looks kinda repetitive. To me anyway.
Madam, the high quality bird seed is located in the exclusive part of the bird feeeder.
