Description Well Uncle Sam came through and cut my tax refund check which gave me a nice pile of cash to splurge on. ( A special shout-out to Obamacare- you cost me over $112 in penalties ) So I treated myself to a early birthday gift and finally got myself something I've always wanted since I was kid- A 9mm Beretta 92 pistol.

Growing up in 80's and 90's I couldn't help but see these things in just about every movie, T.V. show and video game out there. Once I had gotten my paws on one years ago and fired it for the first time, I fell in love with it. I got large hands, so it fits me like a glove and I can hit what I aim at.

I'm not going to delve into its history, for it is long and filled with controversy and many myths. Very few pistols have such a love/hate reputation as the 92. Count me on love side, as when I went shopping for one I went in fully expecting to buy a standard, black "Bruniton" finished gun, I about died when I saw they had this "Inox" -from the Italian "inoxidable" meaning non-oxidizing- finished gun in stainless steel. It was a tough choice, but this was too nice to pass up and they are somewhat rare in these parts (Northern/Central California).

With our ever-shrinking state handgun roster, many other Beretta models fell off the approved list at the beginning of this year and people have been snatching these things up. So I figured its now or never.

Niiice. The Beretta 92 is such a classic firearm from much of the 80s and 90s, including Die Hard and John Woo flicks. I myself hoped for a Cougar but Beretta and Stoeger models were hard to come across here in Southern California before going endangered.

As it turned out, I purchased a pump-action .357 rifle from Taurus which was no good and, as compensation, they offered my a choice of equivalent value. And so I wound up with your Beretta 92's Brazilian cousin, a 9mm stainless version which hasn't let me down. The finish isn't as good as the Inox but the frame reminds me of the vac metal toys from the 80s so I'm cool with it. I do envy your rail-less feature though, that's elegance. www.taurusarmed.net/forums/att…

As long as that ridiculous state approved handgun roster we have stays in effect, all handguns are endangered.  That's why I was telling everyone I could that was voting to vote for Travis Allen for gov.

Yeah, I love my INOX in its rail-less form. I want to get another 92 in a A1 configuration as a "nightstand/bump in the night" gun.  A year before I bought this I had a brand-spanking new 92A1 in my hand, but I had to let it go 'cause I had just bought a Mossberg 590 the week before and didn't have enough money. . . Haven't seen a A1 version since.   Looking to maybe get a PX4 Storm next.

Sometimes there's a silver lining to passing up a firearm. It gives time to practice more with what's already on hand, and maybe allow for reappraisal regarding the next venture. I did regret not seizing the opportunity when Turners was offering a batch of East German SIG P225s, more to have a piece of world history. When I'm done with the university and back to making bank, I might look around for a 1911. And beautiful custom work with your Inox's later pics!

Nice. I was eyeing a Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail. For now we'll have to live vicariously through Mr. Hickok. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RLSYN…

Guy, I watched you because I respect your opinions tremendously, and you have an AR in your gallery... I had no idea we shared this in common. I own an M92FS, and an M96A1 that I carry faithfully. They are balls to the wall accurate, extremely dependable, classy as hell, and one of the sexiest line of pistols ever made. Amen.

Yeah, I think we're in the same boat when it comes to the 2A rights...I try not to let the antis in the politics forum get to me- Most of them are European anyway. It's our fellow Americans that are so eager to sign our rights away that bother me.

I love my Beretta... For the reasons you stated. I'll add it fits my hand like a glove, I don't care about the location of the safety/decocker, and unlike many, I prefer the weight of an all-metal gun. It doesn't look like this anymore, all the polymer & black parts were replaced with stainless steel & aluminum and she wears factory walnut grips.

I want to get another one, an A1 model, but they're hard to come by and 96's of any type seemingly don't exist in these parts. So I'm thinking about getting a PX4 Storm next.

Ooh, I'd love to see your walnut grips! I've been looking at getting a pair for the M96A1.

I used to soot a PX4 Storm that a buddy had. A .40 S&W. I really like the PX4 Storm, it's a fantastic package. But I don't $500 like it, and the mags are crazy expensive. If you ever get the chance to find a used PX4 Storm sub-$400, and in great condition, it may be worth your time!

You've done every upgrade to your Inox that I did to my M92FS. Altogether, it truly makes the M9 a competitive 9mm. The only thing I wished for was replaceable front sights. The M96A1 has removable sights, and I plan to put night sights on them.

It's beautiful!!  It's true, it feels like it's in every movie .    (Random story, I once dumbly got the skin of my finger in a 92fs slide and cried.)

That it is! Ever since the 80's and it doesn't look like its slowing down anytime soon. And. . .ouch.

Same with mine. It fired one magazine after another with no issues.
