And though a fun activity, Rhyhorn racing can be extremely dangerous when the Rhyhorn gets spooked…

Richie learned this fact the hard way when his own prized shiny Rhyhorn became spooked by something in front of her (thought to be a paper bag tossed out into the track by someone in the audience) and bucked out in fear, Richie was sent flying forward, getting gored in the side by his Rhyhorn’s sharp horn and then trampled by her.

As the other racers advanced forward, Richie’s Rhyhorn, popularly known as ‘Shining Rina’, seemed to have realized her mistake and stayed behind with her racer until paramedics arrived.

Luckily for Richie, his goring was only a flesh wound, grazing the skin instead of puncturing deep. And he only suffered a few fractured bones and a mild concussion, injuries that are easily treatable with time and proper care.

Richie says he holds no grudges against Shining Rina and plans to continue his career as a Rhyhorn racer with her as soon as he heals.
