Description Was looking back into Survive awhile ago, and came up with this more rugged look.

Dan's hair having grown out and having the start of a beard is part of a running gag where, in Survive Zone, the Zone has an unusual looping effect, where things reset if one or more of the Survivors dies. Dan, Saku, Senko and Ikuto all look a little disheveled on occasion, though the Survivors never actually notice this, due to their memories being affected by the loops, but the Zoners remember everything due to their dimension hopping abilities making them immune to the loops, and as such they try their best to guide Takuma's group along to the best possible future. As such the Zoners stationed here are implied to have been around a bit longer than they'd usually be, due to the effects of the loops.

The loops themselves can be triggered by the new tagalong Digimon/Kemonogami Tapirmon and Pilomon. A dark gag is sometimes someone in the know will fluff up Pilomon and attempt to smother someone to trigger a loop that's clearly going wrong into resetting.

Another running gag is Dan absolutely cannot pronounce "Kemonogami", and makes the other kids
call them Digimon so he's not constantly tripping over himself trying to explain things. The idea I had to put the Digital back in Digital Monsters for Survive was the Kemonogami that reside in this dream like pseudo dimension being descendants of Digimon who migrated to this dimension centuries ago in Survive Zone's time, becoming cut off from their Digital World of origin. The modern Kemonogami are aware of the term "Digimon", and are perfectly content being called that, though the professor and some of the other kids alternate between calling them Kemonogami or Digimon. This is also to partially explain ancient relics who comically use old computer theming anyway, despite the Digimon not technically being Digimon in official Survive canon, it was artifacts brought over from the Digital World in this fanon. Jijimon and the Sovereign Kemonogami are among the few remaining Digimon still alive from the original migration, and have scattered memories of the Digital World.

Betamon having a divergent Digivolution in particular is based on both Adventure:, and the divergent evolutions seen in Survive. Unlike Survive, rather than being Morale/Wrathful/Harmony driven, Betamon's forms are more based on environmental traits like in Adventure:, with Stegomon being a reaction to the more hostile environment.
