Yeah the title is lame leave me alone.So here's the September art assignment, based on the theme memento mori, aka "remember you will die". I went in the opposite direction, though. The reasoning behind this piece is really long and winding, so I'll put it up later. Maybe indefinitely later!
It's like the carpal tunnel never ends!The full-view of this is really big, just to get in a lot of detail.
Acrylics, scrap paper, ribbons, photos, stickie notes, oils.

I was going to commit one of those forbidden dA cowardices of favoriting without commenting, but I won't, because it's not nice.
I can't think of a single thing to critique on. Then again, I don't know the inner workings of the piece. I don't know a thing about technique or all that fancy art stuff.
But I do love it. I get the feeling that every time that I come back to this, there will be something new that I find in the picture, or something that I hadn't noticed before. It's very intricate, but the whole message isn't overriden by too many things intervening. I like how it's messy, but controlled. I like the stark contrast between the rough torn collage-y jacket and the pretty smooth butterfly-pinned face/hair. I like the random pictures from childhood and the innovation you used when assimilating them into the picture (like the buttons!). I could sit here and think about this for hours. It's so good.

Oh my, I really love this piece. I love how you used the yellow as the dominant color rather than white or black or an over-used color like that. There's a lot of little details in this that I really enjoy; like how you used the same picture for her buttons.
