There's certainly a resemblance! Thanks very much.

Aw, thank you very much. I'm glad that sense of atmosphere comes across. It's micron pen. :]

Oh wow... This is beautiful! I'm speechless. The details are amazing and the composition is almost perfect. I wish my pen drawings looked as shaded as this. I'll be using this as a reference picture for practice. Incredible work! I'll go see some more of your gallery!

W-wow thank you...it's just a matter of layering lots of line to get a full range of tone! Glad if looking at this helps. 8D

No problem. By the way, what type/brand of pen do you use?

For this I was using microns in a good variety of sizes: 005, 01, 03, 05, and 08.

ASDFKLJASL;FHSD I LOVE THIS SO MUCH and yes I saw the resemblance pretty early on; he also looks like Mahler.
A...a lot of Austrian composers had dark hair and glasses, so his design was pretty spot-on.
....AAH the piano name. <33

....AAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's so great, he totally does.
And so glad you like this, thanks!

<3 It really is gorgeous. This sounds like a ridiculously stupid comment but IT'S SO SHINY. Really, I love the way you pulled the lighting off.
I play an Austria on livejournal and one of the first things I did after I created the account was that I photoshopped Mahler for this icon: [link] I couldn't resist.... XD

Never really liked hatching in general, since I prefer to use stippling

Ah I see. Stippling is so time-consuming, but done well it looks so nice~

time-consuming, yes. But more than an hour of nothing but dots is completely worth it <3 I have sold some of my stippling art work since my teachers and classmates always thought how beautiful it was. My art teacher thanked me because she said now for next school year there are more kids than ever enrolling for art because of me X3

Absolutely beautiful <3. I always see this piece in many youtube videos and I wanted to find it so that I could give you my regards. It is such a wonderful piece, and it's nice to see Prussia actually appreciating Austria's music instead of teasing him about it like most portray β₯. Great job <3.

If he did base Austria off Schubert, thank goodness he had the sense NOT to use Schubert's nose & chin!

O= there IS a bit of a resemblance! It would be so appropriate - I did alway wondered why the anime had him playing Chopin and not an Austrian composer...and Austria would play Schubert's impromptus so elegantly, too *_*
π: 0 β©: 1
blueLudebar In reply to jjkou [2010-10-13 19:09:06 +0000 UTC]
Right? Wasn't Chopin Polish, anyway? Methinks someone didn't do their research, haha.
Gosh, and not just the piano pieces--he could easily pull off the intense violin parts Schubert's come up with, too. DEATH AND THE MAIDEN oh god. *_*

Blue-Rouge [2010-08-29 06:38:51 +0000 UTC]
I love how the music is all tattered and askew - it shows that Austria's probably played that piece many many times. The perspective, the shading, and really just all of it seams just so amazing to me. I also love how Austria is still completely focused on his music even though Prussia is completely focused on him. XD If only I could favorite twice...

Now that you mention it, I *do* see the resemblance between Austria and Schubert. Who knows? But it's certainly a possibility - I always thought he looked like a Romantic-era composer anyway.
As for the artwork itself - awesome shading job! Must have been tiring (hence the "hand falls off" bit), but it looks like it was worth every minute.

blueLudebar In reply to KitakLaw [2010-03-12 22:35:12 +0000 UTC]
Right? Though it's probably a coincidence. Must just be the glasses and the swept-back hair, I guess...and the piano. And the cravat.
Ohhh it was crazy tiring, but it was worthwhile! Thanks very much. :]
