I love you... I love you... the words continued to bounce through her head, but she could not reflect them. She loved him, but not the way he confessed to her. Ever since he found her, as a newly hatched ralts, he was her greatest friend, her greatest companion, but not her soulmate. She'd never felt love like this before, a bond like this. She didn't want to lose it... without him, what would she be? Where would she go? But by the same token, what would she be, with him, she thought. A bond like this felt un-natural to her, and she was the most in touch with nature of either of them. What would others think? What could she do? If she left, he would be heartbroken, and her future would be uncertain, left to forage for herself, despite never having learned how. If she stayed, she'd be safe for now... but for how long, could she keep her feelings hidden? What if she started to enjoy their relationship? What if they were caught? ...
He held his breath, with eager anticipation. He hoped she would reciprocate his feelings. He'd harmonised with her, more than any other human he'd ever met. He found her beautiful, in every sense of the word. So what if she wasn't human? Her lips pouted. He could see the nervousness in her eyes. She took a deep breath, before silently looking down. He wondered, why she acted this way, but before he could contemplate over it any further, a smile stretched across her face. She extended her hand out to his, clasping it gently, looking him directly in the eye. Would she return his invitation, or not? The poor boy had no idea...
