Steven's not always smug, he's a person, he feels other things too... Right now he feels unhappy, preparing himself for another big meeting with city council, and Sea Boi. He wants to be as calm as he can before encountering his Boss, the man with the Sea Monster curse that killed... It's no reason Steven has issues with him... It's a little hard to work with the person who killed your family.But did he?
It takes years and years, but Steven is finally able to understand that the Sea Monster isn't the Sea Boi... He grows to love his Boss, "sleepy boi", and the hard humiliating in front of others turns into teasing that is just his way of showing friendship with no means of hurting him.
It takes a long time for Sea Boi to notice the change though, and though he dislikes the teasing, at it annoys him quite often, he grows to understand that it's Steven's way of showing friendship, and grows to kind of like it himself.
Steven is just so much fun to draw, lol
