Shatterfate Chara: Something's wrong with Hopeless... And I can't go back to help him...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So the initial idea of this was that Hopeless fell into a deep depression when he lost Chara. Chara was kinda the only one who accepted Hope (other than Sans and Papyrus) for who he is. Being half human after the war isn't a good thing. Chara and Hopeless were best friends, maybe even something more. When Chara got sick, Hopeless and Asriel took Chara back to the surface to place him in his garden (which has instead of Buttercups, has Forget-me-nots). They were attacked and Hopeless tried to defend Asriel, who Chara was begging to protect himself. Well.. we all know what happened, Asriel died and Hopeless blamed himself for it.
Anyways even though Chara is gone, he's still watching over Hopeless. And when Shatterfate was destroyed by Hopeless, Chara ended up getting stuck there. He came back but is trapped in a practically dead AU.
Alright enough spoilers, I need to start the comic for this....

I'd start the comic soon, but I'm kinda stuck on where to start. Plus my idea for Chara is that he's half monster and half human like Hopeless, but I'm not sure how much of a change that would cause.
My idea is that half monster takes a long time to age, so Chara would be older than he looks. They don't take as long as monsters do but almost the same amount of time.

I can understand the feeling of being stuck
I have alot of ideas of where I want to take my story
I know the basic outline of the story, but when it comes to making decisions on some key points i have a branch of ideas that im trying to decide which works best and trying to make sure i keep consistent
And it makes sense that half monsters take a long time to age since it was said monsters don't age like humans do and they live much longer in comparison so because these half humans have some monster in them it just works that then they live a bit longer then humans but probably less then actual monsters
Anyways, however you decide to start off the comic im sure it will be interesting and can't wait to see it!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm just stuck on how long it should take half humans to age. Do you have a suggestion?

Our AU is kind off similar because we both have half humans involved except you have monsters and I have demons which are basically monsters to humans sure except they are different to the monsters depicted in undertale where as they arent nice and they are more so like the demons of anime; more mythological
but,
I went through the same thought process, because I am using half demons/half humans. So, I wasn't sure if it took half/demon souls to break the barrier just because the character is a half/demon. However in my AU half/demons are supposed to be weaker then humans , so it doesnt make sense if half/demons are the ones with the souls to break the barrier. I would consider that in your AU.
Are half/monsters weaker or do they have some hidden potential or power or ability that actually make them superior to either the full bred monster or full bred human? Maybe its a potential or ability that neither of the monsters or human themselves knew and its the first time they are realizing they could use their souls to break the barrior. It depends how you want to approach this
As for the how long do you think it takes for half humans to age again its something I thought myself because demons live for a long time, so I wondered how long half demons then live or how old the character is their selves and again kind of going off rules that are set in stories about demons with the whole age thing but if you go off a bit of undertale remember in the game it was said that monsters (though im not sure if specifically boss monsters some people say yes some people say no) don't begin to age until they have children, perhaps its the same for half/monsters or to make things more simple
whatever is the most dominant is how to determine how fast or slow they age- such as if its a strong monster blood they have in them then they simply age normally as monsters or if the human blood is more dominant because maybe it wasn't a strong monster parent then they age normally like humans
