Description “He was tall, and fair of face, and masterful, his eyes piercingly bright and his hair raven-dark; in the pursuit of all his purposes eager and steadfast. Few ever changed his courses by counsel, none by force. He became of all the Noldor, then or after, the most subtle in mind and the most skilled in hand... Seldom were the hands and mind of Fëanor at rest.

“Like the crystal of diamonds it appeared, and yet was more strong than adamant, so that no violence could mar it or break it within the Kingdom of Arda... And the inner fire of the Silmarils Fëanor made of the blended light of the Trees of Valinor, which lives in them yet, though the Trees have long withered and shine no more. Therefore even in the darkness of the deepest treasury the Silmarils of their own radiance shone like the stars of Varda; and yet, as were they indeed living things, they rejoiced in light and received it and gave it back in hues more marvellous than before... [A]nd Mandos foretold that the fates of Arda, earth, sea, and air, lay locked within them. The heart of Fëanor was fast bound to these things that he himself had made.”

Excerpts from ‘The Silmarilllion’ by J.R.R.Tolkien.

At his birth his mother was drained of all of her strength to live, such was the fiery power of the child she bore. The child who would grow to be the greatest of the Noldor, and leader of the Kinslaying. He devised the Fëanorian script and created the fateful Silmarils. His name was Curufinwë (curu ‘skill’), but he was known always by his mother’s name for him, Fëanor ‘Spirit of Fire’.

It's almost frightening (in a reverent, awe-struck way) to realize how much work goes into your ink drawings. I am greatly impressed by how you overlay the tiniest, thinnest pen strokes to create subtle variations in shading and texture and make your creation seem like a three dimensional bas-relief.

The way you did Feanor's face is especially stunning - the creases of his skin, and his intent, shining eyes are incredibly realistic, down to the most miniscule detail! As are the veins on his hand... And mmm, yet again you prove that there is no such thing as too much elf hair.

This must be one of my favourite ink portraits done by you so far - I just keep coming back to gaze upon his perfectly chiseled face, again and again!

Heh- I love your intro! It totally swelled my ego- like Boom! x) Thank you so much for giving such love to this drawing. I started it so very long ago, it's almost embarrassing, but the finishing touches seem to be the most difficult to get around to.
Never shall fail, all the hands in my drawings seem to be very thick, short-fingered, and stub-nailed... The best references, I find, happen to be the ones I'm using to draw with. Lol!
After I saw Aminawolf's comic with Feanor and that curly mane of black hair it was pretty much impossible to picture him any other way.
I'm so happy you approve of this portrait! It's always a wonderful challenge and a brave step to illustrate a character that is so well known and loved. Thank you so much!

Good, good!
It was a pleasure to revel in this drawing, and to comment on what I loved about it!
For all your being your worst critis, my comment on masterful skin and vein shading still stands.
You are welcome! And I know how it feels. Though with me, I usually hesite the most before drawing characters I love personally. As though they might get offended.
Always a pleasure!
