Description So it's been a very very long time since I actually uploaded work that I've drawn myself. Since when I left dA during my term at ETSU, actually. I've just had issues with wanting to post my own art, then moving to being comfortable about it but wanting to stay low. I still sort of feel that way now, but this is the first time in years that I've felt that I want to share something I made. So speech done, I present you this.

I actually have gotten a new tablet, which has helped me draw a bit better and almost like I draw on paper. Spending some quality time with it, I did this during this evening. Took a bit of time and it's still a bit simple, mostly focusing on figure form and drawing background elements. This is a big deal for me as I always scan a traditionally-drawn image then line it over before coloring, but this is completely drawn on the tablet with no scanned reference at all. Completely freehanded.

There is no real story with this piece although I now look at it and wish there was, but was inspired a bit by some playthroughs online I saw earlier in the week on the games "Witch's House" and "Mad Father". But I wanted to show a young woman in an older setting having to journey into this foreboding place with creepy things around each corner.

Heh, glad it came across! I believe I was on the tail end of a Witch's House/Mad Father marathon on Youtube when I did this, so definitely glad it gives that vibe.

I like all of the details you've put into this, and you have a very strong light source coming from that lantern. I encourage you to try an get more variation in the surfaces of how you color: the piece overall could benefit from varying textures.Β

The perspective of the girl in particular is a little odd, Β her torso is quite long and he lower half rather short, when, from below, it should be the opposite, so that's something to look out for in the future.Β

Overall, nice work!

I'm sorry I took so long to reply this.

Thanks a lot for the critique, I greatly appreciate it. I'll revisit this piece at some point to see how to texture it, although I don't know how I may attack the perspective. Really appreciated!
