A very endearing little fellow and a beautifully 'touched' moment.

Really soothed by the grainy texture and soft blending of shades you do so dutifully of a fine artiste

Thank you! Made my day to read your comment! I always liked this photo but somehow the original didn't show what I had actually seen that morning. A camera seems to be simply too limited a device to detect a mood that is so obviously (to me) in the air sometimes ... I hope it finally became visible what was "really" there that morning ... (Oh how I miss these moments ... the world seems so empty in this cold.) Thanks again!

I agree about the limitations of a camera. I can see why we photo-manip a lot, cause the mood is difficult to capture. For me, it's why I feel more of an affinity with writing..at least I feel I can describe how the moment made me feel. But your shot here does have the soft mistyness and serene light that comes with a quiet stillness, me thinks The bird is quite elegant in its pose too It's the shades that you've enhanced too, that beige/brown ..and the texture feels tangible thru the depth you've got here.

I agree too about missing the spring summer fall months

A nice analysis you did here I like it a lot because you seem to see what I saw / heard /felt that day Writing is of course another option but I prefer reading ... creating mental pictures

I like hearing stuff like that, that you prefer reading. It's neat to see how balanced the place we exist in is, some write, some read, some photograph, some enjoy looking at photos...

Oh btw, I was thinking about your photos the other day, in relation to a periodical called the Sun. They publish mostly black and white shots, but they're all very unique and have that quality which yours have, the quality of a moment in time, and connected to a story somehow. Often the shots in the Sun will be adjacent to a work of fiction and be totally fitting with the story, even though the shot and story aren't connected. There's something about your work that always bespeaks a story somehow.

Oh well, this world could be such a harmonious place
Still trying to get hold of a copy of that Sun publication, sounds very interesting! That you feel the presence of some kind of a story behind my pictures here makes me smile from one ear to the other because it feels like a really big compliment (yes, there usually is, of varying relevance though )
... And now I finally get to read your bike story ... see ya

Yes, I agree, this world could be an incredibly harmonious place, especially in light of all the harmony that already exists, with all our disharmony! lol

Here's that Sun Magazine link again: [link]

It turned out to be a sleeping beauty to me. I'd had a subscription running for a few years, but during those years I was so busy I barely got time to flip thru any of them, as they piled up. And this past year I started reading them, mostly the fiction and the sections of "reader's write" and every issue was totally illuminating! And I'm not illuminated so easily! And like I say, the shots in the magazine do have this aura about them that are akin to the aura you create or find. But most of them are black and white shots. I'm thinking of one day getting around to writing for the publication. I've been toying with writing here on this site, but I think it would really encourage me to write more if I was published in a magazine such as that.

I like that neat white emoticon of yours btw!

Oh, it's a striking resemblance, I'm just not that pale
Thanks a lot for the link and for sharing your history, hopes, and inspirations with that magazine. I hope to get it from a news stand in my hood instead of having to wait for mail delivery... I'll keep you posted

contemporaryhart In reply to bluePartout [2013-02-05 01:18:28 +0000 UTC]

I'm happy for you that you're not so pale! Not that there's anything wrong with pale, not at all, but I'm just saying..you know..

I didn't know you could get it on the newstand. I went to Chapters where they have literally 8200 different periodicals on display, but not the Sun. But good luck!

bluePartout In reply to contemporaryhart [2013-02-06 22:16:45 +0000 UTC]

What's too pale is too pale

On the newsstand you pay more for them, and in theory, in an ideal world, they should be available (Not even at Chapters? )

Well, Calgary is a big city, with skyscrapers, lots of cars, and even has computers too! lol...but culture is of another kind here! At many magazine racks I could barely find a literary magazine of any kind! I mean, not even the New Yorker! All the magazines are of housekeeping, hunting, cars, sports, crafts, and entertainment! Did you find the Sun in Montreal?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

bluePartout In reply to contemporaryhart [2013-02-09 03:00:11 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like a serious down-to-earth approach Chapter here offers a whole shelf of just literature magazines (oui-oui) but, malheureusement, no Sun among them. I saw that they offer a free trial by mail - so I'll try

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

contemporaryhart In reply to bluePartout [2013-02-09 09:48:17 +0000 UTC]

Wow, a whole shelf! But that's what I love about the "East" culture! I think the Sun has no advertising, so this may be the reason? I am not a shareholder by the way! LOL...I just find it to be a good magazine, and thought you'd find it good for submissions of your photos
