Shuu Tsukiyama: The gourmet's creepy and unsettling behavior and presence had a huge disturbance toward Kameko. She did not like the purple haired fool at all, even though he tried to be kind and offered her coffee at cafés. Although, after a while she started to magically fall for Tsukiyama. This she does not say to him nor her friends because she might embarrass herself. However she suspects that Tsukiyama already found out that she has a crush on him, and Kameko suspects he shares the same feelings.

Tsumi Adachi : At the beginning of high school, Kameko stumbled upon Tsumi in the corridors. This repeated several times over, and they both decided to become friends due to their permanent, unprepared meetings. Just a few weeks later, they became best of friends.

Kaneki Ken: After joining Anteiku, Kameko met Kaneki in the café and she immediately guessed he was associated with the whole Anteiku group. Kaneki brought her to Uta's place where she got her mask and during that time, they had already getting associated with each other. Kameko had a strong feeling that they'd become good friends, and she was right; Kaneki is one of her closest friends today.

Touka Kirishima: Meeting on behalf of Yoshimura, Touka taught her how to tend to the café on Kameko's first day. Learning that Touka also had an unstable relationship with her brother Ayato, she figured that they have much more in common than she thought. Being in the presence of Touka brings Kameko joy and they can basically talk about anything with each other.

Hinami Fueguchi: Even though Hinami was shy around Kameko, she gained a certain trust in her due to Touka inviting her in as a roommate. Kameko thinks she is just the sweetest, and since she is an orphan, she won't let anything happen to her. As the days went, she realized that Hinami had started to trust her as much as she trust Touka and Kaneki. After Kameko gave her the dress she made herself, Hinami has started calling her "Onee-chan".

Yoshimura: After being rescued from bleeding out, Kameko woke up in his café the next day. Confused and paranoid, Kameko thought Yoshimura was a CCG spy and that he wanted to know more about her because of that. However, she was completely wrong; Yoshimura turned out to be the manager of the whole Anteiku group, and he offered her to work as a waitress as payment for her needing help too. He even taught her how to brew the most delicious coffee, since he was an expert himself. Kameko is happy that he found her in that ally, otherwise she wouldn't have met all of those wonderful people of Anteiku.

Uta: First encounter with Uta was when Kameko visited his studio, HySy ArtMask Studio, to get her own mask. Not only does she like his style, but she also likes his relaxed and calm personality. Not knowing a lot about him, she still knows he is a loyal member of Anteiku.

Saburo Aoi: As the last surviving family member, Saburo has taught her to maintain her temper and be strong, even though he can find himself at the edge of trouble as well. Although due to his sudden change of personality, Kameko and Saburo grew a hatred for each other. She remains uninformed of why he changed and why he joined the Aogiri Tree.

Born in the 20th Ward of Tokyo, Kameko was raised with passion, alongside her older brother Saburo Aoi. As the youngest of the siblings, she always seemed to find trouble right around the corners due to her somewhat disrespectful attitude. Saburo influenced her to do bad decisions and end up in a thick mess. However, he was always there to make things right again, even though she insisted him not to interfere with her mistakes. Saburo would also tease Kameko for being three years younger than him, continuing on with comments as "you are a dumbass" or "your brain is indeed messed up for a girl like you". Although, she would not take it offensively since that's how he was; a teaser who always has something to say about her.

Around the age of 14-15, Kameko's family were in process of being eliminated by a group of ghoul investigators called the CCG. Her mother, Ichiko Aoi, took Kameko and Saburo somewhere safe for the time being while their father, Haruto Aoi, attempted to fight off the investigators to protect his family. Already then, his brother Nobu Hirayama had already been eliminated, which made him tempted to get rid of as many investigators as possible. The CCG saw the father as a dangerous opponent, and focused only on him until he was brought down. Ichiko had to carry the sorrow of her lost husband and his brother while running away from the CCG. Sooner or later, they'd reached her sister's place whose name was Machiko Aoi. There, she could remain taking care of her children for a period of time, wishing the CCG wouldn't track them down. After all, Machiko's place was a hideout in the 24th Ward that was hidden well from trespassers. Or so they thought, until one night, Kameko woke up by a scream of agony from Machiko's bedroom. Ichiko stumbled over there and faced Machiko's lifeless body on the bedroom floor. In front of her stood three investigators who had most likely sneaked around the place and sensed their presence. Ichiko's first thought was to protect her children, and so she proceeded towards the bedroom where Kameko and Saburo were present in. Grabbing them in her arms, she threw herself out the window while the investigators desperately followed. Kameko has never been so afraid as she was that night. The frightening atmosphere and hatred recieved from the CCG is something that will always remain in Kameko's memories. She was always afraid of the CCG's Quinques as a child, as she learned it was the kagune of a ghoul's.
Ichiko stopped to put Kameko and her brother down and proceeded a long, warm hug Before she raised to her feet and turned around to see the investigators coming towards them. Ichiko turned around, speaking while smiling; "Run." Saburo knew what to do and grabbed Kameko by her hand and ran off with her while Kameko tried to stay at her mother's side. While they ran off, Ichiko prevented the investigators to follow and eliminate them both up until she was overwhelmed by reinforcements, including the first-class investigator Mado Kureo.

Due to this, Saburo tried his best to take care of his little sister until a few days later out on the streets of Tokyo, they were found by an old lady who gladly accepted them into her residence. Although, this lady was no ordinary lady; she was strict and mean most of the time, abusing the two siblings whenever she felt it was necessary. She'd leave them without food for a week if they were disobedient, while walking with her in the 14th Ward where she lived. Moreover, whenever they were provided with food, it was merely human foods. They were forced to eat it, and tried their best to not vomit. Since they are ghouls, they can only feed on human bodies, while human foods make them get the urge to vomit by its disgusting texture and taste. Since they did not receive any human flesh, they slowly became more and more hungry. The human food made them weak and slow, which the lady found odd. She did not believe in ghouls, which was why she never wanted to see any news including anything about ghouls. From the very first beginning, she made a huge mistake; taking in ghouls in her residence and prove to them that she was worth killing. And so they did; Kameko and Saburo killed and fed from the lady one night when she was asleep. Nearly starved to death, Kameko and Saburo was finally gaining strength and energy to escape the 14th Ward and go somewhere they wanted to go. Learned to not go with strangers, they took care of their own until they were old enough to walk their own paths. That's what her brother started doing after turning 20; insisted Kameko to take care of her own and leave his side. She was furious, in which resulted her getting into a violent fight with him. In the end, Kameko was outmatched by Saburo, and he left her bleeding in an alley. After that incident, Kameko grew a certain hatred towards Saburo for leaving her without a specific reason. In return, he never came back.

The female ghoul had to start earning money on her own and was provided with a job as a part-time waitress. There, she worked until she got enough money to start going to school. As a middle-aged teenager, Kameko started high school after going through a pure hell of bullies in her previous years in secondary school. The ghoul had to take the shit the humans threw at her, otherwise she'd reveal her true identity and end up being eliminated. Even in high school she had to maintain her true identity for the same reason, which she now could handle more effectively. Thanks to her brother, he told her to not be an easy target to get to, which he told her before he left. Moreover, he also taught her how to maintain balanced in certain situations and not rush into unknown troubles or traps.
After a week in high school, Kameko started bumping into a girl named Tsumi Adachi, a high school student from another class. Fortunately, this repeated and they soon became best of friends in a matter of weeks. Kameko appreciated Tsumi's support whenever she needed it, and was always there for her. Never Before has she had a friend who truly cares which made her happy. Kameko never wished anything else more than for Tsumi to remain a friend of hers for as long as she lived.

After a year in high school, she lost her part-time job at the café and was left without no income of money. Kameko needed it to keep her flat, but was forced to move out dye to the inability to pay the bills. At this rate, Kameko feared that she could no longer pretend to live a normal human life, and was left with no options until Tsumi requested her a Place at her house. She was still living with her parents, and offered Kameko to come live with them. Without hesitation, she moved in with Tsumi and lived there until she finished high school and suddenly decided to move out. Tsumi was confused as Kameko refered it as "I have to find out the reason why". In other words, during the summer, Kameko began searching for clues for where her older brother went. After a week of searching, she found out that he had been joining a group of ghouls called The Aogiri Tree. No clue of what these type of ghouls were doing, she tried getting in contact with Saburo somehow by locating the hideout. Since they were ghouls, she thought they'd surely go easy on her. However, she was taken as a prisoner and was soon to be eliminated. She insisted the Aogiri to take her in because of Saburo's membership with them. They gave her a chance to prove herself valuable and succeeded getting a place in the group. Obviously, she was after her brother, wanting an answer from him, even if it means squeezing it out of him. Kameko never reached Saburo enough to be alone with him, and was never given a chance to interact with him. Saburo ignored her completely, which made her frustrated. However, she found out that Aogiri was haunting not only investigators, but also ghouls. If she guessed right, Saburo has a plan to eliminate her eventually. Kameko came to ask herself why he suddenly changed, but she had no time for that. Finding out that Aogiri was after the CCG made her determined to stay to avenge her family's death and receive assistance from the members.

A year passed, and she had now reached the age of 20. Before her birthday closed in, she left the Aogiri Tree and now walks her own path. Kameko never received any assistance at the Aogiri and changed her way of thinking; she will do everything herself from now on, since wherever she goes, she is only betrayed and ignored. Stumbling back to the 20th Ward where she was born, she decides to stay there and never leave. After all, she enjoys the solitude and calm atmosphere this Ward has to offer.

Strengths

-The Rinkaku type's regenerative power is a result of the Rc cells easily binding together, which makes it easier for Kameko to form her Rinkaku.
-The Rinkaku's peculiar appearance and structure yield a superior striking power, which excels a brute strength.
-Kameko's Rinkaku kagune can deliver severe strikes against the slow Koukaku kagune, penetrating the kagune and breaching the Koukaku's defenses.
-As a ghoul, Kameko can survive for one or two months by just feeding one body.
-A ghoul have high physical capability and are much stronger than the average human, which makes Kameko able to send an average human flying if she strike with enough force and can penetrate a human's body with her bare hands.
-Due to the ghoul's physical capability, Kameko is able to jump several meters high.

-The Rinkaku has serious problems fighting against the balanced Bikaku kagune, which makes Kameko's Rinkaku easy to break due to the Bikaku's high power, allowing it to fight against the brute-force Rinkaku. Moreover, the Rinkaku's softness makes it comparatively easy for the Bikaku to cut the kagune off.
-A Bikaku's attack can disable a Rinkaku's regeneration, which makes Kameko extremely vulnerable.
-If Kameko tries to eat normal food, she will be struck by a powerful urge to vomit. When forced or forcing herself to digest such food, it will degrade their physical condition.

Kagune "Rinkaku": A weapon which are made out of Rc cells in the ghoul's body. The Rinkaku, aka "Shining Scales", closely resemble coarse "scaled tentacles", and they come from the back around the waist.

-Kameko means "tortoise child" and Aoi means "hollyhock, althea".

After a week in high school, Kameko started bumping into a girl named Tsumi Adachi, a high school student from another class. Fortunately, this repeated and they soon became best of friends in a matter of weeks. Kameko appreciated Tsumi's support whenever she needed it, and was always there for her. Never Before has she had a friend who truly cares which made her happy. Kameko never wished anything else more than for Tsumi to remain a friend of hers for as long as she lived.

After a year in high school, she lost her part-time job at the café and was left without no income of money. Kameko needed it to keep her flat, but was forced to move out dye to the inability to pay the bills. At this rate, Kameko feared that she could no longer pretend to live a normal human life, and was left with no options until Tsumi requested her a Place at her house. She was still living with her parents, and offered Kameko to come live with them. Without hesitation, she moved in with Tsumi and lived there until she finished high school and suddenly decided to move out. Tsumi was confused as Kameko refered it as "I have to find out the reason why". In other words, during the summer, Kameko began searching for clues for where her older brother went. After a week of searching, she found out that he had been joining a group of ghouls called The Aogiri Tree. No clue of what these type of ghouls were doing, she tried getting in contact with Saburo somehow by locating the hideout. Since they were ghouls, she thought they'd surely go easy on her. However, she was taken as a prisoner and was soon to be eliminated. She insisted the Aogiri to take her in because of Saburo's membership with them. They gave her a chance to prove herself valuable and succeeded getting a place in the group. Obviously, she was after her brother, wanting an answer from him, even if it means squeezing it out of him. Kameko never reached Saburo enough to be alone with him, and was never given a chance to interact with him. Saburo ignored her completely, which made her frustrated. However, she found out that Aogiri was haunting not only investigators, but also ghouls. If she guessed right, Saburo has a plan to eliminate her eventually. Kameko came to ask herself why he suddenly changed, but she had no time for that. Finding out that Aogiri was after the CCG made her determined to stay to avenge her family's death and receive assistance from the members.

A year passed, and she had now reached the age of 20. Before her birthday closed in, she left the Aogiri Tree and now walks her own path. Kameko never received any assistance at the Aogiri and changed her way of thinking; she will do everything herself from now on, since wherever she goes, she is only betrayed and ignored. Stumbling back to the 20th Ward where she was born, she decides to stay there and never leave. After all, she enjoys the solitude and calm atmosphere this Ward has to offer.

Strengths

-The Rinkaku type's regenerative power is a result of the Rc cells easily binding together, which makes it easier for Kameko to form her Rinkaku.
-The Rinkaku's peculiar appearance and structure yield a superior striking power, which excels a brute strength.
-Kameko's Rinkaku kagune can deliver severe strikes against the slow Koukaku kagune, penetrating the kagune and breaching the Koukaku's defenses.
-As a ghoul, Kameko can survive for one or two months by just feeding one body.
-A ghoul have high physical capability and are much stronger than the average human, which makes Kameko able to send an average human flying if she strike with enough force and can penetrate a human's body with her bare hands.
-Due to the ghoul's physical capability, Kameko is able to jump several meters high.
-Ghouls have a tougher body than most regular solid materials, which makes Kameko resistant to anything made of solid material. For example, if she were to be stabbed with a knife, the metal of the knife would break.

Weaknesses

-Due to the Rinkaku's Rc cells ability to bind easily, it makes the kagune easy to break because the Rinkaku's Rc cells are similar to liquids.
-The Rinkaku has serious problems fighting against the balanced Bikaku kagune, which makes Kameko's Rinkaku easy to break due to the Bikaku's high power, allowing it to fight against the brute-force Rinkaku. Moreover, the Rinkaku's softness makes it comparatively easy for the Bikaku to cut the kagune off.
-A Bikaku's attack can disable a Rinkaku's regeneration, which makes Kameko extremely vulnerable.
-If Kameko tries to eat normal food, she will be struck by a powerful urge to vomit. When forced or forcing herself to digest such food, it will degrade their physical condition.
-When Kameko enters an extreme state of hunger, she will suffer very powerful headaches and lose all reason, causing her to become driven by instinct alone.
-More keen tougher materials are able to injure Kameko, due to her resistance against regular solid materials.
-Kameko is weak against the CCG's Quinques and Q bullets.

Abilities

Regeneration: Her Rinkaku Kagune possesses a powerful regeneration ability, which allows Kameko to regenerate during and after battle.

Transformations

Kagune "Rinkaku": A weapon which are made out of Rc cells in the ghoul's body. The Rinkaku, aka "Shining Scales", closely resemble coarse "scaled tentacles", and they come from the back around the waist.

Trivial

-Kameko means "tortoise child" and Aoi means "hollyhock, althea".
-Kameko went through a test for her MBTI (Myers Briggs personality). Her result was ISFP.
-Even though Tsumi and Kameko has known each other for a while, she has not found out about Kameko being a ghoul.
-Calling Kameko a coward/loser, will result her in trying to convince the person she is not. It might end up with a fight.
-The Kakugan, aka "Shining Eye", is activated when Kameko gets extremely hungry, excited, using her Kagune, or enter it by her own will. The Kakugan is an influence of activated Rc cells.
-Besides water and coffee, Kameko can only feed on humans and other ghouls, because ghouls are unable to digest any other type of food due to a particular enzyme their bodies produce. The structure of their tongues are also different from humans', making other foods taste disgusting and uncomfortable.
-Kameko was once a member of the Aogiri Tree because her brother was part of it as well.
-Kameko's rank before she had started working as a waitress on Anteiku was B.
-In the CCG, Kameko has the nickname "Scorpion".
-Whilst Saburo is a regular ghoul, Kameko is a one-eyed ghoul. This has occured because the fact that Ichiko is a human and Haruto is a ghoul. Saburo was born from another mother, who was also a ghoul. In very few cases, a human and a ghoul child die whilst still not born, however the luck was on their side and Kameko survived the birth.
