Well, her mother constantly gets killed and revived in comics and Beast Boy has had several instances where fate intervened when he should've died by all accounts (ex: Slade fatally shoots him point-blank in the heart, but Raven's healing magic saves his life). Plus, given the two dark sides of her parents--Rage & The Beast--Carrie, given the old movie reference, is a fitting name.

Okay. Just seems odd, naming someone after a carrion bird.

There's a game I play now and then, called Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. In it, in one mission, you're supposed to protect these three aircraft carriers; The Vulture, Buzzard, and Kestrel. Guess which one actually makes it through the mission.
Personally, I think it's a little on the ...well, it's not completely ridiculous, but it's not completely weird, either.

Just seems off. I mean no offense.

Just like per Walker Hayes country song, Pants [ [link] ], which both ironically & incidentally, Raven rarely wears as an article of clothing but does wear relationship-wise, with herself in a revealing, skin-tight one-piece leotard that proves that Raven goes commando were it removed (courtesy of season 4), whilst her green beau is simply stark naked when transformed. Throw their dark sides (Obsession [aka Demon Lust = Affection + Rage] and The Beast) exemplifying the cliche that "an animal in bed is a demon in the sack"--given the show's affirmation that "Raven only hits Beast Boy out of love" & the fact that Raven herself gives herself some hidden privacy with the changeling in the source comics--into the equation, and you've gotten sexual tension out the yin-yang.
