I love Kirkland siblings so much. Not just because they're the kids of my otp-- well, maybe they are, but their emotionless faces had their own unique charm to it. They looked so beautiful, like a living automaton and marionette.
idk why am I putting so much effort on a drawing that would probably get zero to none attention at all, but I really like to know what you think on my attempt at making inanimate objects on the background.
and yes, I give up near the end and just recycled some old background.

I... actually don't think it creepy at all. It's elegant! Anne looks like Alice (Alice in Wonderland of course) and David's face has something like... a noble knight to me. Don't know why.
For some reasons David is so, well, tall and mature compare to Anne's having some flair of being both well-mannered and innocent. It looks like David will protect Anne as his precious sister ~
(now, if you don't mind my imagination and if there is a portrait of Roger and Nikita, I imagine it would be in a night pool party where Roger looks cool and is the one who celebrates it, along with his sister Nikita wearing sunglasses and sternly but cool-y said, "Yeah, it's a party in U.S.A.")

Actually you're not that far off! Over the years, I intended to infuse certain traits into David's whole demeanor. "Noble" is one of them. You see, considering how UK and Liechtenstein are monarch countries, I think their kids would be very well-mannered and has certain "royalty" air. So rather than knight, I was aiming to make David looked like a present day prince.
Surprisingly, David and Anne sibling relationship would probably be the stiffest one amongst the HetaNEXT children.Β It's not they're on bad terms,Β no.Β David does care for her sister, but only in general; he wasn't overprotective like Switzerland. They get along well and rarely fought-- in fact, they almost NEVER even fought against each other. Which is a problem.Β I have a difficulty putting their relationship in words, but basically... David was always a bit jealous with Ann, which causing an awkward gap between them because David thinks it's a very shameful thing to admit and Ann doesn't even aware of the fact. I hope you get it.
(Hmm that's an idea but unfortunately, Roger wasn't exactly a party animal. If it was Roger and Nikita one, I want a more badass background for them. With guns and knives and chainsaw, standing in front of wire fence and bullet-ridden wall.)

Of course that creepy-ass doll with Ann adds to the overall creepy, still effect. Frankly, I love how Ann looks like doll because of her clothes and expression. David looks very stiff too (which in this case is a good thing).Β

Well in case you're wondering, that doll is actually a host for real ghost; she was burned alive together with her family decades ago and now she's having trouble resting peacefully. Her name was Prim and she's like to play hopscotch and making grownups cry in fear.Β

I think the reason why people calling it "creepy but beautiful" piece is because how David looked so plastic? he's looked like those live-sized dolls from horror stories. with one of his arm hanging loosely and dead eyes stare. Not a bad thing, mind. it's aweosome
on the other hand, Ann doesn't look "doll"-ish enough if you know what I mean. maybe because her stare and pose doesn't look as lifeless as David.
