Description Grimdark fics can be incredibly faschinating to read, and I totally understand those who love them, but when your brain decides to cross the line between reading it as a story, into reading it as an actual real life event, the fun stops.

I easily immersing myself to the point where something leaves the fictional realm and enters te real world, however stupid the story might be.

Can't even read a summery sometimes without that haunting my imagination for a week.

Darn you, rainbow factory.

I get like that too. There was a time I read really dark Sonic fics that... I just couldn't do that now. It's too real as far as my emotional reactions go, so I get depressed. :/

Yeah, it's probably because I/we lack the ability to see the fiction as fiction. Or maybe that level of immersion is an ability

Either way, it's no fun getting sleep issues from the gruesome fates of characters one likes.
The only thing that differs fantasy from real life is that real life is perceivable by others, but for the single person, both can be just as real. *nodnods, being philosophical and clever*

I call it a mixed blessing.
I do like stories that address darker aspects of life; what I can't quite deal with is the ones that seem to make the darkness itself into the main attraction. I need to see healing after damage. Comfort after hurt. You know?

Oh yes, I totally agree.

There is a really "dark" mlp story that is all about death, but despite that, it's a really beautiful and "bright" story just because of how it ends. I don't wanna spoil anything, but you would probably like it.

Rainbow Factory on the other hand, is all about corrupted minds and how the innocent and likable characters are killed of in gruesome ways. While it IS faschinating in a way (because the human mind can actually get that corrupted), it's just too much to process.

Another really dark love story is "I miss you". it doesn't end well, but at the same time, it's really beautiful because of how it depicts the chaotic emotions of love and despair. I *almost* regret I ever read it, because just, wow. I was sad afterwards.

But in general, it's like you said. Healing after Damage is necessary in a dark story to be ab le to walk away without regretting you've read it.

I love to read the grimdark genre. The psychology behind it fascinates me to no end.  Love your picture here, by the way. The eyes are my favorite

I really like that genre too, but when you take it too seriously and feel bad for a week, it's just not worth it.

Thanks, I like this little sketch too
I'd draw more sad themed pictures if i dared.
