Marvel’s Korean American Spider Superhero

There are A LOT of Spidermen and Women in the Marvel universe. Personally, my favorites are Spider-Man Noir, 2099, PS4 Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Jessica Drew Spider-Woman, Miles Morales, Anya Corazon Spider-Girl, Superior Spider-Man and Peni Parker. Here I’ll be talking about Cindy Moon aka Silk. Silk is still a new character but is slowly gaining popularity, Sony is planning to make a movie about her (They did good with Venom, so I’ll give them a chance) and thanks to fan support got her own comic series. Cindy Moon was once a normal teenage but on the day that radioactive spider bit Peter Parker at the science exhibit, it scurried and also bit Cindy too. Just like Peter she developed similar spider like powers with only a few differences; unlike Peter she can create organic webs and fire them from her finger tips, her spidey sense is stronger then Peter’s and is much faster then him as well. However, even though she’s strong she’s weaker then Peter and had a hard time controlling her powers when she first discovered them. She was eventually taken to a secret bunker to not only learn to control her powers but to also hide her while her parents, who happen to be scientists, searched a cure for their daughter. All would have been well, expect for the fact she was trapped in that bunker for 10 years and her parents were trapped in another dimension without her knowing. She was eventually freed by Peter Parker and after some sexy times Peter showed her the ropes of becoming a hero and eventually gave herself the superhero name Silk. So far, she’s been a spy for S.H.I.E.L.D., saved her brother from a gang based on the Green Goblin, helped the Spider men and women save the multiverse and was one of the totems, defeated the evil powerless version of herself with Jessica Drew and Spider-Gwen, and found her parents and saved them thus bringing her family back together. She joins S.H.I.E.L.D. academy and becomes part of a few cross overs but that’s about it for her. I find Cindy to be an interesting character because although she has similar struggles like Peter, they are being told in a different way that give her the chance to be her own character. I want to see more of Silk but the problem is, there are TOO many spider heroes (there’s like 20 spider women I think?) and the problem with that is that it makes it harder for her to stand out from the other Spider Women. Jessica Drew was the first female spider hero and Spider-Gwen (who I also love) becoming ridiculously popular due to her costume, lore, the bringing back of Gwen Stacy etc. and thanks to “Into the Spiderverse” Peni Parker is getting a lot of fame. Silk would need another story to make her more noticeable. She’s a fun yet what makes her a good character is that she’s relatable when she’s put into a tough situation like Peter. At the moment Silk’s underrated because people see her as just another spider, but I have hope for her. I’ve stated some of this already but she’s smart, funny, relatable, awesome ways of using her powers, and has a cool costume and that’s why she’s my favorite.

Well she sure seems awesome enough

How exactly was she trapped in that bunker though?

There's more to it but I'll try to simplify and shorten it the best I can. So a man named Ezekiel Sims approaches Cindy and offers to train her to control her powers, which she does. However, Ezekiel was the one that locked her in the bunker to protect her from the Inhibitors which was the reason why all the Spidey folks band together. Here's another shortened version of her basic history if your curious; www.youtube.com/watch?v=09BMNU… hope this helps!
