Nuxlings are small faeries that hatch from nutshells, and what nut they're born from will determine their appearance and demeanour

Physical Description

- 10 to 15 cm big
- They hatch with insect wings, most often dragonfly but very rarely butterfly
- Their skin tone resembles that of their nut shell
- Clawed feet resembling a bird's
- No iris or pupil but a solid coloured sclera

Nature based magic

- Influences growth of small plants
- Enjoys berries the most
- Different faeries have different favourites
- Owners will find that their potted plants are suddenly growing their faerie's' favourite berry

Lore

- When they hatch their wings are too weak to use right away, so in this time they will be depending on their human to get them around and keep them safe from predators. After about two weeks their magic will develop and their wings can hold their weight.

- They are fiercely territorial, but anyone they feel are worthy will be allowed to stay in their space for a time. Only those they consider kin will be allowed to stay there permanently.

- During colder months they hibernate in a hollow made of clay, dried grass, and leaves or twigs from their favourite plant. They start constructing these hollows the moment they're able to fly, finding a suitable spot somewhere close to their human's home, and will maintain and improve them their whole lives. It's very rare for a faerie to abandon their hollow
