Entry for the contest started by *artistic-minds : [link]Now let me tell you a little story about this cold beauty.
Her name was Niriam Saberhagen nee Gorsh, she was a vampire princess and Salem's mother.
Wedded to a charming, young prince Tarkan at the youthful age of 79, Niriam believed her life could not possibly become better. Faithful to the last drop of blood and brave, she was a splendid, albeit strict leader for the younger vampires that populated the Castlier.
After 32 years of marriage she gave birth to her one and only son, Salem. From then on, her life took its course for the worse. Her nights were filled with fear and anticipation, as her husband, as was becoming quite the tradition in the Saberhagens family, decided their offspring is endangering his persona and intended to kill the young pup. Niriam had none of this.
Which fact led straight to her death.
She was killed by Tarkan at the age of 116, leaving her 5 years old son at the mercy of his mentally unstable father.
Decades later they eventually clashed in a mortal combat, which Salem won, becoming the new prince. But that's another story.

Well, although I still like the overall composition and the face shape, I would've changed all the details and the shading. Maybe I'll try to play with it once more in the future.

So why did Tarkan think the kid endangered his persona?

Mostly because he was insane. But inter-familiar killings are quite common in this house; Tarkan's father died killed by his father, who also most probably killed his own father. The need to be the alpha - the only - male in the family runs especially strong in those in power.
So to sum up, Tarkan didn't want to wait 'till he had no chance of winning in a fight that he was sure would at last come.
That he lost anyways is another story >_>

That’s…indeed a very, very curious piece, especially to see from your hands, but it’s good you’re not limited to tentacle invested horrors or darkemogothingscenes…I think. It’s even almost cute. If you didnt knew about any backgroundstory…actually it is kind of cute with the backgroundstory as well. It just seems weird to say pictures like these have some adorableness around them, you know, there are…kiddies in them D; .

Well, it's good to be somehow versatile >_>' I know, I know! But Salem is a special kiddo. He's my kiddo, but I didn't have to change his diapers nor was the proces of labor very painful. So it's alright. Besides as you know what happens next it's almost morbidly cute. You're just waiting for the blood to fly D:
