Description Starcraft 2: Terran Trucks
Modeled by Phill Gonzales, final textures by Sam Yang.

Animated by Phill and friends

These trucks are the result of a routine task to make civilian construction vehicles. Rationalizing that in the future things would be interchangeable, I designed these with the idea that they all share components and get specialized as needed. Also, the Roadrunner logo is my father’s construction company logo. These were done long ago, and when the time came a fellow artist named Sam Yang updated the textures.

Nope. It's just reusing siege tank parts.

That actually makes sense in terms of the game's lore--the terrans were supposed to land in a different part of the galaxy than they did, and if I recall correctly, one of their colony ships crashed. So, since their technology is largely salvaged and jury-rigged (at least it was in SC1, which was the rationale why their buildings would continue to take damage once down in the red and explode if not repaired), then they would use tried-and-true designs and modify them accordingly much like the Standard Template Construction designs of Warhammer 40K and re-use every scrap of technology they could a la the Clans of BattleTech to maximize their resources.

Also makes sense from a real-life design standpoint, in that since you already had some elements rendered, why not save time and keep from tearing your hair out by palette swapping them and re-using them elsewhere whenever it makes sense to do so. Very clever, either way! Β
