When I wrote and drew this issue, I was in the transition of leaving Disney Feature Animation and going to Avatar the Last Airbender.
Actually, I was let go from Disney and I wasn't too sure of my future. So this comic holds a very special place in my heart,
because it represents a new beginning. It was scary, because I wasn't sure of where my career was going to go at the time.
There was a moment there, when all that I had going was this comic, Alcatraz High #2!

And what is wonderful about this comic book series is that it is everything that I couldn't do in animation at that time. I wanted to do a story with American storytelling, humor and character development with a touch of Japanese animation, robots and action! I put all that love and goodness into my creator-owned comic series!
